2026 Chery Tiggo 9 Plugin Hybrid Test Drive and Review

Hello. Hello. And you join me in rather rainy England today for the allnew Sherry Tele 9. Now, this is the Sherry flagship here in the UK and this is the press launch for the car. So, I’m going to give you a walk around tour of the car, show you what it’s like interior, and then get it out in the road for a test drive. Now, without further ado, let’s crack on. So, this particular one, as you can see, is finished in this kind of green paint. All UK models come in a Summit trim, so they all come highly specified, and prices start just over £43,000. At time of filming, if you’re watching this in the future, prices may have changed. Now, this car use a 1.5 L 4-cylinder petrol engine. You’ll get £428 PS. Now, this is the largest vehicle in the Sherry lineup here in the UK. Everything about it is kind of big, blocket, is a free row, familyfriendly SUV. I do like these like kind of champagne flute style alloy wheels we can see here with luxury technology on them. Cladding around the sides here. Daytime running lights. This is kind of looks like a pinstripe suit or something quite fancy boutique hotel. Got the big cherry grill up front with all your good stuff here. And then down below your radar cruise control, parking sensors. It’s got 540° camera. So they add the 360 plus the 180 to give you the 540. do have LED high performance technology for the headlights in this car. Then walk around, you can see things like little cameras underneath the mirrors here. Flush door handles that we’ve seen on the Amoda 9. Roof rails up above. And then we’ve got some flaps going on. So, is this going to be the petrol flap? That’s probably the petrol flap. Le must be the other side. Around the rear, we’ve got allhe drive plug-in hybrid. This car is about 5.4 seconds to 60. The claim with this vehicle is boot space is going to vary depending how many rows you have in place. So with this third row down, you are looking around 819 L of boot space. If you fold the second row down, you’re going to get just over 2,000 L of boot space. That that does actually rival things like your Toyota Land Cruiser in terms of size. If you could imagine with the third row in place, then of course you’re going to have a little bit less room. You’re going to have about 180 odd lers of boot space just because it’s quite shallow here with the third row in place. It’s not a big American full size, but it’s pretty large for the UK. Now, electronic tailgate, of course. Reverse camera says sharing the rear light bar cuz that seems to be the thing for 2025 cars. No visible tail pipes or anything like the Amoda 9. We do have this geometric print that fades into smoothness down here. Have a quick look in the rear. I do like this silver chrome trim on the D-pillar. And it’s worth mentioning the doors extend down below the sill, so you’re not going to get the back of your legs starting. Do have a Sony sound system in this car. I do believe it’s 14 speakers. And it’s also got 10 airbags, so it’s a pretty safe vehicle. In the rear here, we’ve got things like electric window switch, little blinds here, so you can block out sun, peasants, whoever you want it to be. Preferated leather, quite soft touch material. Door bins not lined with fuzzy stuff, but at least we’ve got them. Texturized plastic here. Got little mat pockets here behind each of the seats. Then you’ve got your heated and ventilated seats in the rear. USBA and C charger as well as vents. Cup holder in the center here. ISOIX points. Pull this down. That slides forward a little bit like so. And that’s how the second row looks once we’re here. Go ahead and lift this up in place. Trying to do this with one hand and climb in is going to be interesting. So, let’s see if 5′ 11 Thomas can fit in the back of the sh. Um, [laughter] okay. Don’t crush me. Don’t crush me. Don’t crush me. Uh, yes. It’s not for adults. was had high hopes there, but yeah, um I can’t get the seat back because my knees are going to bash off of this unfortunately and there’s like no foot room. So, small children, but you’re sitting rather upright and I’m banging my head off the ceiling here. So, it’s not a Land Rover Discovery competitor or a Defender 130. It’s going to be more a 5 plus2 configuration, I would say. Uh, but back here plastics are more boot plastic. It’s not that super plush, but we do have a cup holder, but no vents back here for anybody. A little bit of a map light, but that’s a little bit of a interesting one. But yes, it’s a little bit of a fail in terms of adults in the third row. So, let’s check out the second row. Now, this is the space I have. I’m going to slide that in there cuz it’s quite handy. to get my body through is like this couple of inches here. So, let’s see. I’m not doing this for camera and jump into the second row. Okay, we’ve got fan speeds came on as soon as I close the door there. Uh, nice glass roof. Instantly more room than there is in the third row. Near room, not too bad. Quite a flat floor as well. Turbo transmission hump which is impressive. So that should mean sitting in the middle 5’11 Thomas. Still got plenty of headroom. Slightly perched but only the outer seats are heated and ventilated. These seats in the center are it’s just a seat or a perch but good commanding view out front at least sitting in the middle here. Jump back across and yeah visibility is not too bad. The big panoramic roof definitely adds a bit of aireriness to the cabin, which is nice. And material quality, it’s all right. Um, I like that kind of soft touch here. Kind of a niceish material here. But yeah, it’s not too bad. Again, this car is £43,000, so I guess you have to weigh that up when you’re doing it’s not going to be the plushest thing in the world, but but yes, it does have some of the amenities, ambient lighting and things like back here and big door handles. But yeah, probably get comfortable. Yes, it declines a little bit. There we go. Ha, just kidding. Let’s get up to the front to see what’s happening up there. All right, so up front we do have this door card here. All end electric windows, seat adjustment, door locks, mechanical door release, grab handle, sherry umbrella with a little bit of storage, not land fuzzy stuff, but it’s fairly rectangular and it’s not divided. Some people like that. This lights up in the dark, which is quite nice. Seat controls here, which is all like in one big button. These do have massage ventilated and heated. A little bit of storage underneath here for your 12vt power outlet. Same as the model 9. The USB chargers are on the passenger side. I wonder if that’s I need to ask if that’s been not converted for hand drive cars. Light controls here. Not too much like to grab. Know some cars have got like a little bit of storage there for cards and things like that. Go ahead and jump inside. something that’s very familiar with what we’ve seen. Now, let’s start off with headroom because this is where the driver’s going to be. So, 5’11, plenty of head room, shoulder room, get yourself adjusted not too badly back here. And just like we’ve seen in the Emod 9 as well, we’ve got nice butterfly kind of style headrests here, which are nice soft and squidgy. And the driver has got a different style with the speakers inside them. So you can see here it’s going to be if you’re playing audio satnav directions that we have here it’s going to come through. Don’t know if it’s going to play. No, I wasn’t sure if we would get something coming through. Then you’ve got a lot of controls there. Ignore my bag. And then in here, cool box. Rubber lined at the bottom but plastic around the side. It’s awfully damped. Not lined with fuzzy stuff. is squared off so no big fuse box in the way. And then you’ve got your wireless phone charging here. And it is cooled. I have I did get that in the press demo. It was cooled in this side. That’s just a place to rest your phone. And it’s it feels like cardboard or something. It’s feel like that packaging material that feels more like that than a soft squidgy material. Some black gloss plastic down here for climate controls. Heated bits. You can turn things auto. Oh, we’re getting it too fast now. Everything’s controlled through the touchcreen like a lot of modern cars. So, you got your pet mode, heated steering wheel, heating setting seats. You can There we go. Switch to front and rear. And then, yeah, the pet mode is going to be quite cool. I’ve seen that in the JQ 5. So, you can leave your car on and then let it do its thing. Heated windscreen, which is going to be ideal, and it’s the full thing. It’s not just like some brands where it’s the bottom. The full windscreen, which is going to be ideal for winter. Heads-up display up front as well. And then there’s your seat control so you can get your heating on. Do I want the Come on. There we go. Massage cat. Oh, need to put my seat belt on. Maybe this is the Okay, let’s give it a go. Come on. We had it a second ago. See massage. Are we getting any of these? No. Okay. Pass. It’s grayed out. So, not sure. Need to ask on that twin. But we do have a Hello, Sherry. Please continue. >> Can you tell me the weather? >> Sorry, this function is not supported. >> Cancel. >> So, it does have voice commands, but I guess it’s going to be limited to what we can say. Now, the Sher do claim you can get about 650 mi of claimed range combining the petrol with electricity. You get about 91 miles of electric driving range. I’m getting 101 right now with the car fully charged with 603 from the petrol tank. We’ve got two screens here as you can imagine. So we do have a 15.6 in touchscreen and a 10.25 in screen here. That’s the only sound system all around. I think we’ve got acoustic glass as well from what I got told in the presentation. There we go. Double glazing blind spot monitoring. It’s got a host of safety features. 19 ADA system features in this car. So it is pretty impressive. And we’ve got an electronic steering wheel um adjustment, which is nice to see because I don’t think was the model 9 manual [snorts] from memory. I think that was a slightly more expensive car, but it had I think that had a manual um steering wheel. So, it’s nice to have that one metal brake pedal. The gas is rubber, but we’ve got a metal finish on the brake. But overall, it’s not too bad up here. Material quality is fine as you’ve got vinyl material here. Ambient lighting underneath the air vent blends into like this trim going behind the screen. Two vents down here. It’s Yeah, it’s not fussy. It’s just kind of a little bit full wood going across and then your windows. It’s not your window, just your boot and your petrol cap release down here. Overall, it’s not too bad. We shall see what it’s like out on the road. So here we have your 15in touchcreen here. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, all that good stuff. Got your home key button there. I do like the fact when you go into your the seat button here, you can control your massage, your heated seats, your ventilated seats. As you can see, all four seats are on three stage. Heated steering wheel is just on or off in this car. If it was a nice sunny day, you could put the ventilation on. Got various modes for the um the massage. I did have catwalk on, but it was quite loud, so I didn’t want that on for today’s video. Now, if you swipe down with your fingers, you can turn off various things. You’ve got your driving modes here. We can put into normal, sport, whatever it may be. >> Normal mode. >> There we go. Just like we’ve seen in the Emod, it talks to you. >> Sport mode. >> Normal mode. >> There we go. And then you’ve got your various adjustments there. charging schedule. Turn screen off. Ambient lighting. There we go. Let’s turn that on and off. And there we go. You’ve got your widgets there. So, you can add and remove various widgets depending what you want to use. So, it’s quite a customizable screen there. You can have that set up the way you want it. Now, we do have voice recognition. So, it can do various things. If you see it’s catchphrase up here and then if you have your home button into car settings a little bit like you see with some of these other brands, you’re able to go through these menus here and select various things. So we can change the ambient lighting quite quickly. And then we can go to Oh, there we go. Music rhythm to make it dance and pulsate. New energy. There’s your 99 miles of range in the charge. Driver assistance. There we go. There’s your modes. Hybrid electric mode. Driver monitoring alarms. We can turn that off. driver assistance here. There we go. So, all the stuff you might want to turn on and off. Emergency braking, integrated cruise control, lane keep, blind spot warning, departure warnings, bleed limit. Can we turn this off? There we go. Okay, perfect. And yeah, so all those are going to live in there. Heads up display controls. That’s going to bring it up here. We can hopefully see that if I put the wipers on. You can see the zero up there in the heads-up display. And then we’ve got vehicle settings as well. Wiper sensitivity, tailgate height, all that good stuff. So, left hand side, we do have things like your cruise control, favorite buttons. And then the right hand side, we have your voice control and volume controls, voice control, and volume control on the right hand side as well as this little button here that can cycle through things on the screen. So, you can see things like tire pressure, satnav, whatever it may be. There we go. We’re getting 141 m to a gallon apparently with this vehicle. On the left hand side here, we do have your wiper controls as well as your indicators. Right hand side here is your gear selector. So, if you push it all the way up to reverse, you do get your 540° camera. Quite crisp and clear as you can see. It’s the 360 plus the 180 for the reverse. You’ve got various things as well. Can remember the last 20 ft or so of your driving. 29 ft to be exact if you want to do that. And then P for park obviously to bring that away. Yeah. Overall up here we do have your drive modes as well if you want to jump in. >> Snow mode, sport mode, normal mode. >> There we go. And we can see various graphics as we >> eco mode. Normal mode, sport mode, snow mode, sand mode. >> That’s quite cool. >> Snow mode. >> But I think it is time to get this car out in the road and see what that power is all about. So, let’s stay tuned for the next part of this video. All right, you join me behind the wheel of the Sherry Tele 9 flagship crossover. So, let’s see how we get on as we drive this large flagship on UK roads. And we are off. Oh, almost off, but we’re getting there. [laughter] 3 2 1 and let’s go. Now, we do sit quite high in this vehicle and I’ve got good commanding view out front. First impressions driving out a windy driveway as it does feel quite large and I can hear quite a lot of the stones and that underneath from the gravel. Now into normal tarmac steering feels quite light and assisted. Big chunky side view mirrors as well and rear view mirror up top. I wasn’t sure if this would have a digital rear view mirror, but apparently not. So, but it does have like a plastic clear plastic surround on the side there. And around this trusty bend here, we do have the cameras popping up at low speed, similar again to what I’ve seen in the Molden 9, the 360 camera of the rendering of the car. And we are off. We follow this map at the roundabout and we’re get oursel going >> sand mode. >> Sand mode. Let’s put it into >> sport mode. >> Sport mode. A little bit punchier than you expect. It’s 5 point odd seconds to 60. So that is fairly punchy for a large familyfriendly SUV as you would expect. Uh this is almost electric car quick. You know, mid 5 seconds for a vehicle this size. And I would say in my head this competes with things like your Kia STO and other like three roll SUVs like that. It’s not as well damped or plush as something like maybe a BMW X5 or Land Rover Discovery, but it’s definitely in that kind of Kia Rental Ballpark, but you are getting quite a nice finish in taking goodies in this vehicle for the money, which again, £43,000, you can spend that on a normal car these days, you know, a Golf GTI or a I don’t know, a Kier something like that. And Sherry are offering a three row SUV with panoramic roof, the cameras, the ventilated seats and tech. So, if you’re the kind of person that likes technology and you’re not too fussed about the brand, this could be the car for you. If you’re need the space, maybe want a family space or just you want a space for like your kayaks and things like that. It’s a big family utility vehicle size of thing. And it’s also able to haul. It’s quite fast. It’s relatively fuel efficient. You can plug it in 91 mi of driving range. So, it’s got that capability as well. So, yeah, it’s got a lot of things going for it. So, I just want to say thanks very much for watching this video on the Sherry TGO 9. If you like this video, please give me a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel below, and I’ll see you all next video. Ciao. [music] >> [music] >> Heat.
