Jeep recalls 112,859 plug-in hybrids #automobile
Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel. Today we have a significant safety recall to discuss that affects a large number of Jeep plug-in hybrid owners. If you drive a newer Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE or a Wrangler 4XE, you need to listen up because this could directly impact you. In addition to previous recalls, Jeep is recalling nearly 113,000 of its popular 4XE plug-in hybrid models due to a very serious engine issue. This safety recall affects the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE produced between 2023 to 2025 and Jeep Wrangler 4XE models produced between 2023 to 2025. The problem, according to the official report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is that sand from the engine block casting process might have been left inside some of these engines. This isn’t just a minor contaminant. The sand can circulate within the engine, causing damage to critical internal components. The official safety report warns that this can lead to catastrophic engine failure. What does catastrophic engine failure mean for you, the driver? It could result in a sudden and complete loss of power while you’re driving, which is incredibly dangerous, especially at highway speeds. The report also mentions the risk of fire, so this is not something to take lightly. Be on the lookout for a knocking noise coming from your engine bay. You might also see the check engine light or malfunction indicator lamp illuminate on your dashboard. If your vehicle experiences one or more of these symptoms, you should get your vehicle checked out immediately. So, which specific vehicles are affected? The recall includes 36,840 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE models built between July 19th, 2023 and March 3rd, 2025. It also covers 76,19 Jeep Wrangler 4xe models produced from June 7th, 2023 to March 4th, 2025. What’s being done about it? Fiat Chrysler, Jeep’s parent company, will be conducting a voluntary safety recall. They are scheduled to notify dealerships around November 13th, 2025, and will begin sending out official recall notices to owners starting around December 29th, 2025. As of right now, the exact fix or remedy is still under development. It will likely require a significant engine inspection and possibly a full engine replacement, but that’s just speculation for now. If you own one of these Jeeps, make sure your contact information is up to date with your dealership so you receive the recall notice. You can also check the NHTSA website to see if your specific car is included in this or any other recall. Thanks for watching.
