Nissan plans to integrate artificial intelligence technologies into 90% of its global vehicle portfolio, according to statements from company leadership outlining a long-term strategy focused on electrification and digitalization. The initiative forms part of a broader transformation that includes reducing underperforming models and reallocating investment toward advanced mobility solutions.

The company confirmed that this shift will involve a restructuring of its global product lineup, with a reduction of approximately 45% in the number of models offered. The adjustment is intended to streamline operations and prioritize vehicles aligned with electrification and intelligent systems. Executives indicated that AI integration will be embedded across vehicle functions, supporting automation, connectivity, and user interface improvements.

Iván Espinosa, president and CEO, Nissan, stated that the strategy is designed to position the company within a rapidly evolving automotive landscape. “Our vision defines where Nissan is heading, with maximum priority placed on intelligent mobility,” he said. He added that incorporating artificial intelligence technologies will enable the company to offer products that are “safer, more intuitive, and reliable.”

The restructuring also reflects changes in capital allocation. By reducing the number of models, Nissan expects to redirect resources toward the development of electric vehicles and advanced driver assistance systems. “The operational restructuring implies a reduction in the global portfolio, allowing the company to phase out underperforming models and reallocate capital to areas with greater growth potential,” the company said.

The company emphasized that artificial intelligence will play a central role in enhancing the driving experience. “By expanding mobility intelligence, we offer products and technologies that are safer, more intuitive, and reliable,” Espinosa said.
