(ABC 6 News) — The City of Rochester announced Lime scooters and e-bikes have returned to the city as of Monday with additional services this year.

According to the city, there was an increased demand last year as total rides with Lime scooters and e-bikes increased 21% during 2025.

To accommodate for that increased demand, Lime has deployed additional services in Rochester this season to expand availability for residents and visitors.

“Rochester’s transportation system works best when people have real choices for how they get around. Shared micromobility devices like scooters helps by making it easier to replace some vehicle trips, which reduces demand for motor vehicle parking at the end of a trip. Transportation choices support our mode shift targets by easing pressure on downtown streets and parking, while helping the whole system move more safely and efficiently for people walking, rolling, cycling, taking transit, and driving,” said Steve Sampson Brown, the director of construction for the city.

Changes in 2026 include no parking zones, which have been created on select shared-use path segments to reduce obstructions and keep paths clear for people walking, rolling, cycling, and using mobility aids.

Meanwhile, mandatory parking zones and physical corrals have been placed in priority area to improve parking compliance and keep sidewalks and curb ramps accessible.

Device clusters at partner sites will also be available to improve availability for group trips and reduce the need to search for devices.

The city also shared some safety tips for using Lime e-bikes and scooters while in a shared space, including:

Keep right. Pass left.Announce when passing (use a bell or a quick “On your left”)Control your speed and yield to others, especially in crowded areasBe predictable (hold your line and look before stopping, turning, or moving left)Use headphones responsibly so you can hear others around youPets: keep them leashed, keep right, and clean up after themLeave no trace: pack out trash, including pet waste bagsRide bikes and electric scooters where permitted and park properly so sidewalks, curb ramps, entrances, and paths remain clear for others. To review specific laws regarding motorized foot scooters, please reference Minnesota Statute 169.225.
