Heavily Discounted Brand New EVs
There are some cracking full electric deals out there on the market right now. In fact, I’ve made a list of 32 ones, this included, so you don’t have to. Just to give you an overview of what discounts are actually available. So, obviously, I’m not talking about leasing here. I’m on about buying PCP, standard finance, that sort of thing. It does make a difference when you shop around because the list price versus the realistic price is sometimes miles apart. Now, that could be just a big discount or it could be just unrealistic pricing by the manufacturer, but either way, we have some cracking deals for you as we now enter 2026. We’re almost, in fact, for some of them, we are at, but we’re almost, generally speaking, at price parity for petrol and full electric cars. Now, I’m the first to admit that if I couldn’t charge from home, I wouldn’t own an EV. The infrastructure within a 10 mile radius of me couldn’t support it. I mean, I could I could manage, but realistically, it’s never going to happen. And financially, the cheap fuel that you can get from a home charger and a nighttime tariff, that’s what makes it substantially cheaper to run. So, realistically, you need one of these. And according to the RAS, roughly 55% of UK households will have the ability to get one. Now, if you do need one, so if you’re watching this video, I imagine you probably can charge from home, then please do go to smartarthomecharge.co.uk UK for at least one of the three quotes you should get for any charger. They’ve been sponsoring the channel for years. I mean, it’s got to be five, six years at least. I got them as a customer. My brother’s got one from them. Harry’s got one from them. And I know many, many people online through this channel have got a quote from smartomecharger.co.uk. They haven’t just got tons of chargers where you can compare the two. They’ve also got very handy tools like this is what car I’ve got and that car is linked to this energy provider. So you can get this tariff and these are your other tariffs available. So if you’re new to EV World tariffs and all chargers all that it’s a brilliant resource. It’s not just about buying a charger. So please again do visit smart homecharge.co.uk and thank you for supporting the channel all these years and keeping the videos free. Now of course we have to go upstairs to see the 32 cars that I’m about to show you on something that is holier than thou all bow down to the white board of truth. And this is the board. And these are the columns. We have two columns, as I said, 32. In black, we have the list price of the cheapest entry-level version. In red, we have the price that I’ve managed to find by deliberately spending no more than 5 minutes online per car. So, if I’ve managed to find these prices in 5 minutes, if you’re looking for one of these, then you should be able to beat this price for me or at least match it. So, this this for me is the most you should pay, not just a oh, look what I found a a one-off bargain for. There’s quite a lot out there. So, just just shop around. It doesn’t take much to go online. You don’t have to go and visit lots of dealers, but the deals are out there. Now, it’s not so much the uh the the list prices. It’s not so much the discounts that I want to kind of go through on this. It’s the overview that this gives you that for me kind of changes it for a lot of people. So if you were looking at a small car, you might discount a larger car because its list price is well5,000 more. So for example, if you’re looking at uh something the size of a Fit 500, 25 grand, you’re not going to look at uh an MGS5, which is quite a decent size founder car because it’s 312 in terms of list. So it’s in another price bracket. But that’s 217 in reality. That’s $229 for a much much larger car. So all of a sudden it changes what you might actually find is affordable to you. You might not need a bigger car, but if you can get it for the same price as a smaller one, you might go, “Actually, I’ll have that instead.” Depreciation, it’s often mentioned when it comes to EVs specifically, but it affects all cars. And what I’m about to to show you to prove does apply to all cars as well, not just electric ones. Um, so when you see depreciation tables or when you look at a magazine, you know, one of the big, you know, What Car, Auto Express, all that sort of stuff, it’s a load of crap. The depreciation tables are incorrect in reality because they’re using something which almost nobody will ever pay, especially for something like a Ford. Who pays list price for a Ford? Who has ever paid list price? But what they’ll do is, let’s let’s take this one up here, the Above 500, £30,000 list price. I’ve had a look online and the cheapest one on Autotrader right now is £19,000 and that has uh I think it’s done 17,000 miles and it’s 2.5 years old. So you they would say well it’s dropped in 2 and 1 half years £11,000. Well no it hasn’t because nobody pays list. Look you can get it for 224. So it’s gone from 224 to 19 in 2 and a2 years. That’s very low depreciation. I mean, that’s specific to the Abath. Others are obviously quite different, but you get my point. If you’re looking at the list price of, I don’t know, an ID3, 31 grand. What’s that worth after 3 years? Well, I didn’t pay 31. I paid 237. All of a sudden, it changes things completely and it means depreciation tables can only be based on realistic prices, not list prices. So again, this sort of overview, it really does highlight things to me. Last example, F 500. This is the 40 kWh, the bigger battery version. Very good small car. 25 list £21,700. Decent discount. But wait a minute, the Above 500 is just £700 more. Normally, you would look at the list and say, well, there’s a 5 grand difference. That’s too much for me. It’s a different price bracket again. So, I’m not going to look at the Abbar 500, but for 700 quid extra, that is worth every penny extra for me. I’m a hot hatch fan, so there’s that. But it’s the same car underneath, same battery, and other than that’s got lower range because it’s quicker. It handles better. The interior, especially with the Alcantara, you know, trim, the seats are beautiful. It’s a brilliant little hot hatch, warm hatch, whatever you want to call it. So all of a sudden doing this has made a car that you probably excluded come back into it again. You’re getting something better than you thought. Okay, so let’s rattle through this one by one because again you might not be able to see it on a tiny camera. About 500 30 down to 22. Audi Q4 Ron 473 down to 38 12. And if you’re wondering why there’s lots missing like I mean there’s there’s a billion Audi SUVs out there even in EV world. This would be just a list of Audi SUVs. And quite frankly, it would be 50 shades of Audi. Most people when you look at things like the BMW i5 or the i7, that that’s a company car. It’s a lease. So, I’ve deliberately tried to keep this to mainstream more realistic prices that that suit more people. There’s again there’s dozens of dozens of cars. I can’t put them all on the whiteboard. We’ll be here all day. So, that’s why there are some missing. Uh i4 51 and a half down to 47 and a half almost. Not a great discount there. BYD dolphin surf the bigger battery version 42 kWh 23 list just under 17 17 grand for a brand new decent range car that’s doing probably close to 200 miles even in winter in the real world by auto 377 down to 297 again that changes things uh the Citra DC3 small little car cheap budget car 23 down to 18 yet another below the £20,000 bracket. To put it into some sort of context, the Volkswagen Polo entry- levelvel price with no options is 20 grand. So again, we are getting there in EV World. Uh Kraborn 356 down to 263. This is something else that I think this overview highlights. the ID3, which is down here, the Volkswagen ID3, it’s essentially the same car underneath, same battery, same motor. But for me, the Cupraborn is better interior handling, and it looks better for me personally. Even though the ID3’s refresh has improved it, I would always go for the Koopra Born. However, if that’s 263 in real terms and the ID3 is 237, it’s quite a bit cheaper. Then I’m probably going for the ID3. Fiat 600E, not brilliant car, but from 30 down to 22. That’s the Stalantis clone. We’ve done the Fiat 500. Uh the Fiat Fiat Ford Capri extended range, that’s the bigger battery version once more. 44 down to 355. That’s essentially an ID4 underneath the Ford Puma E 262 down to 23 and a half. That’s a really good small car. Now, this the Hyundai Insta, the bigger battery version. This is genuinely I don’t know if it’s been on the channel yet, the review, but we we’ve done the review. That is probably the best value small EV you can buy of every EV we’ve ever tested and we’ve done over 110 now. 213 list 176 again bigger battery version that’s doing about 10 20 mi more than my Tesla standard range Model 3 granted it’s 5 years old but it’s doing 200 220 mi in the middle of winter and it’s 176 brand new none of these are pre-registered that is another bargain and the interior it’s like it’s like it’s been designed by IKEA it’s phenomenally um configurable We’ll say that anyway. Ionic 542 down to 388. Not great there. Jeep Avenger, another Stalantis clone along with the Fiat 600e. 30 grand down to 227. I mean that’s basically the same price as the Fiat. And the Jeep Avenger is far far better than the Fiat even though it’s essentially the same underneath. The Kia EV3 again, fantastic vehicle. 36 down to 312. The Kia EV6 455 down to 37 and a half. And I should point out the EV3 was the longrange battery version. If you need seven seats, the Kia EV9 at the moment for me is the best out of the bunch. 66 down to 61. The Leap Moto T03, small, budget, very basic car. 16 grand. List 39. 39 for a car. Mercedes CLA. Very efficient. 456 down to 40.8. So even Mercedes do discounts. MG4 longrange just under 30 grand list 20 20 grand for a long range mod MG4. Not the most reliable it seems according to reports but it’s 20 grand. MGS5 the long range version of that. It’s parked outside right now again doing about 220 30 miles in minus3 winter temperatures. It’s big. It’s practical. 23 grand. 23 from 312. That’s probably the next best value car in terms of family car after the Insta. Them two are the the best value I think we’ve we’ve tested so far. Nissan area, the bigger battery version again, the 80 odd kilowatt hour, 39 12 down to 36 12. The Peugeot E208 another Stalantis clone 30 down to 20. The Lrock from Scoda 33.6 down to 277. Enyak 39 down to 32.4. And again, that’s the bigger battery version. The Suzuki Vitara once more, the bigger battery variant, the 60 odd kilowatt hour. 292 down to 263. That’s a car that’s actually on its way as I’m filming this. Standard range model 3. I just put that on again for reference. There’s no discounts on them. Foxhole Corser 198 for the Yes version. You can only get that online. 17 grand. Another car, another full electric car, well below £20,000, which just proves again that they are getting more accessible. Vauxhall Frontier, bigger battery version, 27 12 down to 23 1/2. That is the first car where the petrol and electric versions were the same price. So again, not far off. ID3.8, 23.7, 7 grand discount. Again, it list price is a joke for the mo for a lot of manufacturers. ID4 37 down to 31.5 very practical. And finally the Volkswagen ID Buzz 79 kWh the short wheelbase version 60 down to 53. So there we have it. That’s the list. And again there’s dozens missing. We could just keep going through this for hours on end. But I think this gives a really good overview as to the state of the market. You know, we’re getting some really strong discounts on a lot of these and that means the use prices obviously come down. That that that’s even better for people who are trying to get into the EV market at least. And probably also explains why some people are choosing to go down the salary sacrifice route or the lease route so they don’t suffer from this catastrophic depreciation. Now, some of these, don’t get me wrong, do depreciate quite a bit. If you look at the MG4, I’ve seen them for about 10 11 grand when they’re like 2 or three year old, but no one paid 30, 20. So, um, yeah, thank you very much to Smart Home Charge for sponsoring this video. Again, if you need a charger, please go on their website.
