On 15 April, Lavi Taxi signed a memorandum of understanding with VinFast and GSM for its new initiative. Lavi Taxi will invest in and deploy the 2,000 VinFast EVs, while GSM will provide consultancy and support for the new technology platform required to operate the fleet. The three companies will also jointly develop a synchronised operational ecosystem, including V-Green charging infrastructure and a specialised workshop system.
Lavi Taxi plans to roll out the new electric taxis in key locations such as Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Khanh Hoa and Da Nang. The company will use four models from VinFast’s Green series of commercial EVs: Minio Green, Herio Green, Limo Green and EC Van, as well as the VF 5 from the passenger line.
The Minio Green is a two-door, four-seat microcar with a 30 kW/65 Nm motor and an 18.3 kWh battery pack that delivers an NEDC range of 210 kilometres. The VF 5 and Herio Green are two versions of the same urban SUV. Featuring a 100 kW/135 Nm motor and a 37.23 kWh LFP battery pack, they can travel up to 326 kilometres on a single charge, also as per NEDC. The Limo Green is a seven-seat mid-size MPV with a 150 kW/280 Nm motor and a 60.13 kWh LFP battery pack that gives an NEDC range of 450 kilometres.
How Lavi Taxi plans to use the EC Van in its operations is not yet known. In the default configuration, the EC Van is a small panel van with two seats, 2.6 m³ of cargo space and 650 kg of payload capacity. It features a 30 kW/110 Nm motor powered by an 18.3 kWh battery pack and has an NEDC range of 175 kilometres.
In other recent news, GSM has rebranded Xanh SM as Green SM, unifying its brand identity across domestic and international markets. The company operates in four countries: Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and the Philippines. According to a report from Business Standard, it plans to enter India with a fleet of 500 cars soon.
