MG’s cheapest electric car surprised us! (MG4 Urban review)
MG hit the mark with its original MG4 electric car a few years ago. Now the Chinese brand has released a second MG4 called the Urban that’s completely different.
The Urban is MG’s more cost-effective electric hatch, using a cheaper, front-drive platform and cheaper suspension to help create a lower entry point of just $31,990 drive-away.
There is just a single Essence grade, with two battery sizes on offer. The 43kWh Urban has a WLTP range of up to 316km, while the 54kWh Urban – priced from $34,990 drive-away – has a WLTP range of up to 405km.
Standard features for the MG4 Urban Essence include a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, 7.0-inch digital driver display, wireless charging, surround-view camera, electric driver’s seat, and heated front seats.
In this video review, we check out the MG4 Urban’s pricing versus rivals, explore its interior space and quality, check out its boot capacity, and find out if it’s as fun to drive as the original, rear-drive MG4 hatch. We also assess the big-battery model’s real-world efficiency to see if it really can provide more than 400km of range.
