Yamaha XSR155, Aerox E and EC-06 | Walkaround | Autocar India
This is the Yamaha XSR 155. It’s finally been launched in India. There have been a lot of interested customers in this product because currently the Yamaha range has the R15 and the MT15. The R15 outright sports bike and the MT15 and aggressive street fighter. So, this is going to appeal to a lot of people especially in the Indian market. Now, let’s check out what’s new. As you can see, this has a neorro design. So, you have a round headlight at the front. Coming to the rear, you also have this single round tail light which looks quite unique and nice. It has a single piece seat over here. The seat height is 810 mm if I’m not wrong which is the same as the R15. If you come on to this side, as we can see, this also has a slightly more rugged looking exhaust to go with the theme of the motorcycle. You have different panels on the side and what else is new? Yeah, 17-in wheels and the weight of this motorcycle is set to be 137 kg, which makes it around 4 kilos lighter than the Yamaha R15 and the MT15. You get a tank size of 10 L. And unfortunately, right now, I cannot show you the console, but as you can see, it’s a round unit here. There’s no keys, but we told that this has Bluetooth connectivity, traction control system, and there are two kits for this motorcycle available. We don’t know the details right now and how much they cost, but the kits will be a cafe racer kit which you’ll get a small cowl on top of this and there will also be a rugged scrambler kit. Now I don’t know what that includes right now. More details on that will be available in the future. And now priced at rupees 1.50 lakh starting price. This becomes the most accessible in the range when you compare it with the R15 and the MT15. Do let us know what you guys think in the comment section below and more details will be out once we get to ride this motorcycle. Now, alongside the Yama XSR 155, Yamama have also shown us two new electric scooters. Now, this year, as you can see, it is the Aerox E. What is really nice is that this has always been a sharp and nice maxi style scooter, but they’ve retained the design for the EV platform as well. The only few differentiating elements are like at the front, you do get a split LED headlight compared to the single one on the ICU model. And additionally over here you have new colors and a slightly different red for the battery and the motor. Now this one has two 1.4 kowatt R removable batteries. And as you can see that is obviously reduced the storage space a little but they’re quite compact units. Each of them does weigh quite a bit though. This one is almost 10 kilos each. The motor makes around 9.4 kW of power and 48 mm of torque. This is said to have a certified riding range of around 106 km, which should be good for a city commuter. And this does have a TFT screen as well. Unfortunately, it’s not on right now, so I can’t show you what that’s like. It’s said to have three riding modes and also a boost riding mode. Additionally, this does have appbased connectivity, and you also get a reverse mode. Now, in terms of this, as you can see, it still has the 14-in wheels, but this has disc brakes at both ends and a single channel ABS setup. Now, in terms of price, we don’t know anything yet. The price should be released in the first quarter of next year. Considering that the Aerox is already a premium IC scooter and it costs around 1.40 lakh extra room, this will be priced at at a premium. So, we can expect this to be a premium EV offering. Next up, we have the Yama EC06, which is essentially a highly reworked version of the River Indie. Now, we know that Yama and River were in a partnership and this is going to be the first product to come out of their learnings from that, but this does have a lot of changes. Now, if you know that the River Indie is branded as the SUV of scooters and gets a lot of added functionality, this one it’s more it’s going more with the Yama philosophy of things. So, it’s more compact. Yama also tells us that the suspension has been reworked. The chassis and the swing arm have also been reworked and it’s going to feel more like a Yamaha to ride. Now the things I can tell you for now is that this has the same powertrain. So a 4 kWh battery pack paired with a 6.7 kW motor. Now as you can see the design is also more compact and edgy. And if we come to the rear over here, the Indie has a total of 43 L of storage. But this one has a total of 24.5 L approximately. And that’s because the River Indie has storage at the front, which you do not get over here. And the rear, it also is more minimalistic in terms of storage space. Now, this gets a similar colored LCD screen as the River Indie, and it gets to get three riding modes, we’re told. For now, those are all the details I can share with you. The River Indie is currently priced at rupees 1.46 lakh. So, we can expect considering that this is a Yamaha to be on the slightly pricier side. But for now, prices have not been announced. Do let us know which one of these you would pick in the comment section below.
Yamaha have launched the XSR 155 in India with prices starting at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Alongside the XSR, they also unveiled the Aerox E and EC-06 scooters. Azaman gives you a quick walkaround of all three products.
