KTM have confirmed that their battery-powered Freeride E electric enduro bike, first revealed in October 2024, will finally arrive in UK dealers from late April priced at £8999.

The silent off-roader was put on pause after a major financial restructuring for the Austrian company and now arrives with a claimed weight of just 112kg, with three riding modes, and a peak power output of 25.7bhp.

Likely to be more approachable than some of their more powerful combustion alternatives, its silent output could have added appeal for those riding in areas with heavily policed noise restrictions.

The three modes consist of ‘Eco’, ‘Normal’, and ‘Sport’, with three settings for energy regeneration available to maximise the distance between trips to the plugs.

Top speed is said to be 59mph courtesy of a 29kg 5.5kWh lithium-ion swappable battery and a waterproof and dustproof motor – with between two and three hours of off-road riding available.

This battery is said to be able to withstand over 1000 recharges before its effectiveness drops to 80%, and takes eight hours to recharge when plugged into a standard wall socket – dropping to 90 minutes with a special 3.3kW charger. KTM also claim a nominal power figure of 11.1bhp.

Also assisting on the dirt are 21/18in spoked aluminium wheels with Michelin Enduro Medium tyres, and 360mm of ground clearance – aided by a 910mm seat height, plus 250mm of fork travel and 240mm of movement at the back end.

The MCN take

Lightweight electric off-roaders could present a number of benefits to trail riders. Not only are they nice and light, but the lack of noise is also likely to mean less friction with the locals.
