I Bought One Of The CHEAPEST Amazon E-Bikes…. Jansno X50 Review
In this box is the Jans Snow X50. Hey, watch it. And it is a very popular ebike. In fact, it’s one of the most popular moped style ebikes on Amazon. And I’ve seen this thing selling for like 2 years now. So, it’s about time I got my hands on it and test it out if it’s worth it or not. Oh no, we got to put our own brake rotor on. Stupid. And they give us one of these cheap crappy air pumps. Yippee. They also give us one of these useless bike locks. useless. Look, an instruction manual. They even include a phone mount for your bike. I’m not going to smash this. It’s actually pretty cool. If I would have thrown that knife any higher, it probably would have popped my tire. Ooh, Chinese ebike. Where the heck did I put my brake rotor at? I’m putting this brake rotor on while the bike is all upright like this. I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen a bike company’s name on their own bike tires, but I think these are CST BFT 20×4 in fat tires with wheels with no spokes. So, should be pretty strong. And it comes inflated fender. Normally, I would be kind of mad that they didn’t put the seat on beforehand, but this bike is a little bit different because it comes locked from the factory. So to unlock it, all you got to do is take these cables apart and then I guess you should be unlocked. Now they give us this Janso branded 14 amp hour 48vt battery that apparently has LG technology in here. And for the price of this bike, I’m not so sure about that claim, but hey, who knows? I’m not going to open it up and look. They give you this foamy stuff here on the forks, which is kind of weird. Give us even more foam. Our headlights and our turn signals that of course we’re going to use our turn signals on our electric bicycle. Check this out. This is a Janso Innovation Design rear shock, which is how you know it’s going to suck because they have to brag about how good it is. Here’s a look at our cable brakes here in the front. They’re 160 mm. And they say Janso on them. Here’s our rear fender, which I have a feeling is going to be useless. Look, man. All the mud is just going to fling up from there, man. That’s not stopping anything. Says Janso on our seat, so your butt can feel better about sitting on that seat cuz it says Janso on there. Controller box doing its thing. Nice brown seat, too, by the way. I like that it’s a brown seat. Doesn’t feel very padded, though. So, your butt is probably going to hurt quite a bit on here. Look at that. The frame just ends. It just ends here. They cut it off. Cut it off and welded this on. Just said, “Nope, we’re done.” Oo, check it out. Our innovative design shock like we were talking about earlier. Got our 750 W hub motor in the back with seven Shimano gears that we’re not going to be pedaling with. And a warning sticker on the back here that says that you probably shouldn’t use this for biking or going over 3 m an hour cuz this is just some Chinese front fork. Chin mama. So, they actually did us the favor of running our cables from this part of the frame to this part of the frame down here so that it’s a little bit hidden. This paint is like a blue gray metallic and it’s like a really thin tube steel frame on here. I mean, it feels solid though. The batter is kind of wiggling around a little bit when I move it. So, you’re probably going to want to lock that down. But, I mean, everything else feels pretty good. We got our front fender on here and we got these kind of cool chill handlebars here. So, if we turn the bike on, we can actually use these NFC key tags to turn the bike on like that. If not, you press the power button and it just asks you for a password, which is four zeros, by the way. So, this is our setup here in our cockpit. I love these chill handlebars here so that you can kind of act like you’re on a beach cruiser or something, but we get five pedal assist levels like on every other ebike that’s ever existed. We have a headlight switch. We also have a turn signal which you get them on the front and you get them on the back too so you can let other people know who are texting and driving uh that you’re going to turn left or right which is a really great invention. We also have a loud horn which is loud and uh we’ve got a keyed ignition here. So you have like 16 security devices on this bike and you’ve got a Shimano shifter here which you’re not going to use. Cable brakes. This is the back one. So, that means this is the front one. And then you’ve got a half twist throttle here. And unlocked, it’s saying we’re getting up to like 34 miles an hour, which is cool. We got a little power gauge on here. And you’ll notice that I’m connected to the charger right now. So, you can charge this uh bike and use it at the same time, which isn’t I’m not going to lie, it’s not a very useful feature because um unless you have a really long extension cord, you’re probably not going to get very far. Got a nice bright tail light, which is also a brake light. We’ve also got the keys for the battery on here, too. This is how I look next to the Jan Snow X50 at 6 foot 10 and 300 lb. Just kidding. I’m actually 6 foot 9. No, I’m actually 5’9, 150 lb. And uh I fit comfortably on this thing. I can flat foot this uh bike easily. The seat is really wide. Like, it’s kind of squishing my my legs. And I’m assuming if I try and pedal this thing that it’s not going to end well for me. So, I’m just going to stay away from the pedals. Well, would you look at that? Our whole battery sticker is coming off there. So, that’s a really nice touch. Love that. But, I mean, this is a really comfortable riding position. I love the uh the sweatback handlebars. I feel like I’m on a motorcycle or something like a Harley and I’m just kind of chilling back here. So, um this is kind of uncomfortable for me to sit here with my legs out to the side like this cuz the seat is just so wide. So, um when you’re riding, this hopefully will be a little bit of a more comfortable riding position. But, I mean, overall feels really good. It feels like every other uh moped style ebike I’ve I’ve been on before. The display is nice and bright, and it comes with a USBC port on the bottom side. You can charge up your phone while you’re watching Tik Tok on the go on this thing. Oh, I forgot one thing, too. Let’s see. Forgot about our motorcycle uh thing here. This thing does indeed hold a phone. And as you can see, it even has this handy feature where it blocks off the corners of your phone. So, you have less visibility on your screen, which is just a really nice feature. And uh as far as phone holders go, I’m going to give this about a uh four stars out of 10. All right, enough messing around. Let’s get this Jan Snow out on a test drive and see how it is. All right, guys. So, we’re out here on the Jan Snow X50. About 90°, humid as heck, Midwest weather. Could uh thunderstorm at any moment, as you can see by the sky. But we’re out here testing the Jan Snow out. I just chug like four water bottles, but this thing feels really good. This is an awesome feeling little bike. Um, it’s kind of in between. It’s not a super long wheelbase. It’s actually a pretty short wheelbase for an ebike, but riding position, everything feels good. Feels stable out here so far. We’ve taken it about a mile. Let’s give this full suspension eBike a test off-road. Something’s rattling down there. I think it’s probably the battery. Um, I’m going to shift down to really low gear so that I can help this thing out because I have a feeling it’s not going to be able to go up this hill down here. Extremely bumpy, ungraded stuff down here. All right. Oh man. Yeah, not a whole lot of power. Definitely not the most powerful ebike. Not a great hill climber, but uh just going off-road here, it handles it fine and it doesn’t feel too bad. Actually, I was thinking that this rear suspension would be a lot more stiff than it is, but it’s really not too bad. Actually, I can I can deal with this. That battery rattling around is a little bit annoying, but uh you know, we can deal with it. For what did I pay for this bike? I think I paid like 750 bucks or something. 770 bucks for this thing. So, look, I can deal with a few squeaks and rattles since I’m getting some cheap transportation here. I mean, I’m going decently fast on this off-road section here. Um, that was a big bump. I’m going decently fast here. I’m going like 21 miles an hour on the grass. And you know, it’s Oh, the suspension’s not the best, but it’s also not the worst, which is not what I was expecting to say about this cuz Oh, I just hit something on my leg cuz Oh, man. All right, enough. Okay, so this isn’t a dirt bike. You don’t want to be going too fast uh off-road here. Man, I smacked into something that was very prickly back there on my leg. But you don’t want to be going too fast on the off-road on this thing. But, I mean, it can handle it. As you guys saw, we got our Nai uh BFT tires on here that are Janso branded, which is a unique feature of this bike. But, you know, we can uh we can go on some grass nice and oh, fine on this thing. I’m getting off this grass now. All right. No more off-road. Okay. Okay. So, if you want to buy this thing to go a little bit off-road, you can definitely do it. But I wouldn’t recommend that you go off-roading on this thing all the time here. So, why don’t we pull over here and do a little bit of a zero to 20 test on this thing and see how much see how much power we got. All right. So, from complete stop zero, we’re at like most of the way on the battery. Got four out of five bars, 51.4 volts, and go. It really, really eases you into that power on this. 12 13 15 16 17. Speedometer is accurate by this 20 20. Speedometer is accurate on this thing, by the way. You can see we’ve got our little key cards flopping around there. This looks like a little credit card or something on here. It’s funny. It’s like a little Janso branded credit card that’s hanging from my handlebars right now. So, there’s this little thing on the screen here and I think it tells you how much power is going to the motor, but it actually just measures the how fast the wheels are spinning. I think man, there’s a lot of trees down over here. We had a really bad thunderstorm the other day and there’s just a bunch of trees and sticks on the ground. Got to be careful. But I think it just tells you like how much power it thinks it’s getting since the wheels are spinning. I don’t know. But there’s a little power meter down there. It’s really not helpful or useful. But it is cool to see stuff happening on your screen, I guess. Let’s see how fast we can get going on this thing. Let’s see a top speed on here. So on GPS, it’s saying about 26. Got a decent little headwind here. 27 seems like it’s getting us a little bit more power now. 28s. I don’t know what that guy’s honking at. So, really not bad for a bike this price, getting about 28, 29 miles an hour out of this thing. It really doesn’t feel like a quick bike. Uh, it really eases you into the power and it just doesn’t have a ton of torque. I think on the website it said that it had like 60 Nm or something. So, it’s not a very torquy motor. Uh, you’re not really going to have that instant power. This is going to be more of like a top speed type of bike. you’re going to have have to build up that momentum to to get going. And on the street, this thing feels perfectly fine. It feels really stable. And we’re hitting about 27 on this little uphill part here. So, really not a bad top speed at all on this thing. Feels really good. Feels stable. Those uh squeaks and rattles kind of went away now that we’re on some smooth stuff. So, I wouldn’t really buy this to go do too much off-roading. Maybe you’d want to replace that rear shock for sure. But I mean on the road here, this is a totally comfortable and totally reasonable shock and uh it feels fine. I was whenever I see a shock that looks like this, uh I get worried. It doesn’t look very good, but honestly, it’s again, it’s not the softest. It’s not the bounciest, but it feels fine. It’s really not a bad shock, especially for just riding on the street and stuff. So, just taking off from a stop on this bike, it really Oh, man. It takes a second to get going. This is not a super powerful motor, for sure. little bit uh lethargic on the power there, but honestly for uh what you’re going to be using this bike for, just riding around the street and the trails and stuff, it’s totally doable. It’s totally fine. So, yeah, we got about 5 mi on this bike now, and there are a little bit those squeaks and rattles kind of came back, but honestly, for the price, I’m not expecting the most refined bike. I mean, this was like a $700 bike, so it’s not going to be the most refined for sure. But, uh, the fact that you get turn signals and stuff like that on a bike this cheap, where I’ve gotten bikes that are three, four times as much as this, and it doesn’t have as many features, you know, I’m always impressed by these uh these cheap entry- level bikes like this because they do give you a lot. It’s crazy. If you upgraded to a a more expensive bike and you were coming from something like this, you might not even have all the features that uh that you had on your cheaper bike. So, I can flat foot this thing totally fine here at this stop. This Nissan’s letting us go. Yeah, this should be fine for a shorter rider. Again, I’m 5’9. Got about a 31 inch inseam, so I can flat foot this thing just fine. I would say if you’re 5 foot, depending on how long your legs are, you should be good to go on this thing. So, look, like I said, you’re not going to be pedaling this thing really. The seat’s too wide. Just moped style bikes are not good to pedal anyways. I really don’t even want to pedal this thing because it’s it’s just so uncomfortable. like my my legs are my hips are having to be like pointed out and it’s just not a natural comfortable position to be pedaling this thing. So, the pedals are just there purely for show. Um, just to keep the police out of your hair, I guess. I mean, this isn’t even like a uh it’s it’s not like this is a Suron or something like this is a pretty legal bike. You know, you’ve got a 750 W motor. You can keep this bike in uh in class 2 if you connect those wires back. So, this isn’t like a crazy bike anyways, but you know, it’s always nice to have pedals on stuff that looks a little bit more aggressive like this. Oh, man. Got to help this thing out to get going. It really doesn’t want to go off the line. It really does not accelerate very fast. This seat actually is pretty comfortable since it’s a little bit wider. It’s not the softest, but it does feel uh pretty good, which is more than you can say for a lot of these these bike seats. A lot of the times it’s just they’re really really uncomfortable. But, I don’t think that I would really need to upgrade this one. We’ve gone about 6 and 1/2 miles now and I’m feeling I’m feeling fine. I’m not feeling too fatigued. It’s a relatively smooth bike besides the uh the rear spring not being very soft. The the front honestly isn’t very soft either. There’s no adjustments on the front forks at all either. So, you’re kind of stuck with what you got. We do have cable brakes on this bike, but they actually feel really good. They feel accurate and they grab really nice here. The cable brakes on here feel fine. They’re more than adequate for stopping this thing from 28 mph. This isn’t a super heavy bike to begin with. Um, you know, I’m was trying to not lock up the uh the rear wheel there, but they they feel fine and they’re pretty beded in at this point. No squeaks or rattles coming from the brakes, which is nice. Do a little bit of a panic stop again. Yeah, you know, you can just sink the uh the handlebars down on these cable brakes. They’re cable brakes don’t have the best feel to them. they can be fine for just average. But if you’re really going to be going downhill and stuff and doing a lot of like heavy braking and really uh putting a lot of work in on those brakes and you’re probably going to want to upgrade to hydraulic, especially if you’re going to be stopping from faster speeds cuz these, you know, you just do one panic stop and the brake lever kind of sinks and you have to readjust it all of the sudden going up this hill with a run out here. Oo, that was a big bump. Yeah, it it cuts quick. It cuts that power real quick. It loses its steam. Once you lose that momentum going up that hill, it just kind of kind of craps out on you. Giving us about two or three battery bars. It is sagging down a little bit. For uh for 14 amp hour battery, I wouldn’t expect crazy range out of this thing. Apparently, they’re LG cells, which if that’s true, that’s really nice. It’ll give you a little bit of uh extra peace of mind, I guess. But on like a 14 A battery like this, I don’t know. I I don’t see myself getting more than like 18 to 20 mi of range on this thing. We’re already at 8 and we’re below half according to the screen. So, we’ll we’ll see what range we end up getting on this thing. I’m going to flip around here in a second and start heading home. Oh man, even on small hills, you really lose some steam going up those hills. And that is a big log that fell down. The screen on this thing is really nice. It’s a really good display. I got to tighten it down a little bit more, but it’s a really nice display. It’s just a basic uh LCD digital display, no color or anything, but it’s very very easy to read in the sunlight. Um, so I I like that. I don’t need a crazy fancy colorful screen on here with like GPS navigation and Bluetooth. Just tell me how fast I’m going, how many miles I got, and how much battery I got left, and we’ll be good on that. But, so they they they kept it simple. I’m glad that they didn’t screw up the uh the LCD like a lot of bike manufacturers feel like they need to do. Oh, and by the way, I gave up on the phone holder that they gave me out of the box. I just grabbed this one that I keep on all my other bikes. Uh the the one that they gave me was super cheap. I It was just frustrating me, so I I got mad and I threw it at the wall and I put this one on. As far as putting like a cargo rack on this thing, uh I don’t really know if you could. It doesn’t seem like there’s any bolts or anything back there to uh put a cargo rack or any extra storage on. So, this isn’t going to be the most practical bike in the world, but uh you know, it should get the job done. You can throw a backpack on, maybe a front rack if you’re feeling a little dangerous, but really uh you know, not the most practical bike in the world. But I’ll tell you what, it’ll get you around town and around the city no problem. Looks like in the lower pedal assist numbers, it kind of limits my power here. Limits the top speed. So, we’re in pedal assist 2 now. It’s letting us get up to about 14 15 miles an hour. pedal assist three getting us up to 18 19. So really this uh these pedal assist numbers when it cuts your speed like that, it’s kind of like cruise control. If you want to cruise at, you know, 20 25 mph, you can do that. Just set it to whatever number and then you don’t have to uh to think about it cuz sometimes controlling the speed on the throttle can be a little bit hard. But my thoughts on the Jan Snow X50 so far, this is a pretty good bike. You know, for around just under 800 bucks, you get a lot of features on this thing. I would like to see hydraulic brakes and I would like to not hear that squeak that’s uh coming from the front. But I mean overall, can you really say much? This is a a good little bike for Ooh, big bump. It’s a good little bike for the money, I think. So far, I’m going to keep testing this thing out, put some more miles on it, and then I’ll catch up with you guys when we’re closer to home and give you all my final thoughts and if you should pick up the Jan Snow X50 for yourself. We’ve gone about 12 miles now here on our ride and our battery is saying about 45 volts right now. It’s sagging down a little bit, but overall I would say you’d probably get about 18 to 20 mi pretty easily on throttle only on this thing. Maybe a little bit more if you’re lighter, a little bit less if you’re heavier, but you know, you shouldn’t expect crazy range out of a 14 A battery. Anyways, some of the things that I like about this bike are the price. I mean, it’s a really good price for this bike. Everything is decent. Everything is relatively solid. It’s not going to be the best quality, but that’s okay. Um, I like the riding position on this thing, and the seat is relatively comfortable, too. It’s not the softest, but it gets the job done. It’s It’s good enough. Get a decentiz battery on this. 14 amp hours. Also like the brakes, even though they are cable brakes. Some things that I’m not too fond of on this bike are the squeaking on the front. I don’t really care for that. I’m not a huge fan of these NFC uh tags either, although they’re not very intrusive to unlock this bike, and you don’t actually need them to unlock the bike. Also, not a huge fan of the power on this bike. It really isn’t a very fast bike at all. It gets going once it gets going, but when you’re down low, when you’re coming from a stop, I was going really, really slow when I was crossing some of those intersections when cars were waiting for me. So, that’s one thing that’s uh kind of annoying about this bike. But, I mean, and again, this is a Oh, we’re going to just barely make it up this hill. Oh, man. Yeah. not uh power is not this bike’s strong suit, but you shouldn’t be getting in any trouble with this bike with the law, that’s for sure. Things that are okay on this bike, the uh front and rear suspension is not the best. And like this, the front forks are squeaking a little bit on the front here. So, not the best quality suspension, but I’ll take that over a uh hard tail bike any day of the week. At the end of the day, guys, this is just a city cruiser with some really nice features. You know, you get turn signals and everything on here. It’s a city cruiser and it’s good at that. Overall, just a solid good value ebike. And now that we’re getting uh a little bit less battery here, we are just slugging around on this thing. It is very sluggish now that we’re down on power. We’ve gone about 13 mi on this ride. We got about 13 1/2 14 when we’re all done. So, I could see us getting, you know, 18 20 miles, like I said, out of this thing. Just throttle only with my riding style. If you pedal, you can get more, but pedaling is not too comfortable on this bike. So, that being said, guys, the Jan Snow X50, pretty good value little ebike uh on Amazon here. If you want to pick one up, you got my permission. It’s a it’s a good little bike. So, that being said, guys, I’m going to wrap the video up here if you want to check out some other bikes that I got on the channel. I’ll leave a few linked below. But with that being said, we are all done here for today. I hope you guys are out enjoying your ebikes, enjoying the summer, and I will see you guys in the next video. Take care and ride safe out
