Jaecoo J7 SHS plug-in hybrid rolls onto the MotorMatters driveway
just rolled onto the Motors driveway. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Which one is it? Because there are more and more being launched in South Africa all the time. Well, Jacuz’s J7. They call it the SHS. You know the J7. You know the JCU. We tested the normal, can I call it, petrol version very, very recently. It is a nicesized family SUV with lots going for it. But the plug-in hybrid version is, can we call it a GT version? Because it’s got a 1.5 L turbo engine plus electric motors that gives you 255 kW and 525 Newton me of torque. That’s plenty. It’s GT style. They say it can do 90 km on electric only. They reckon your range between petrol and electric could be up to,200 km. You heard me. 1,200 on a single tank on a single charge. You know the J7, you know the JU, it looks great. It looks good. Look at that massive screen in the center over there. But the question is living with plug-in hybrids. Are they not practical? Do they work? We’re going to check. We’re going to find out and we’ll let you know because watch the channel, you’ll see more during the week.
