Late last year, Nissan introduced the 2026 Nissan Rogue PHEV, a clone of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. We also got to take it for a spin down in Tennessee. This electrified Rogue, using the same powertrain as the 2025 Outlander PHEV, aimed to fill a big void in the Nissan lineup, which didn’t have even a single hybrid to offer.

At that time, Nissan had made it clear that the next-generation Rogue would feature e-Power technology in North America. We just didn’t know when it would show up. Now, we’ve just learned that the launch has been moved up to October or November of this year.

The news was confirmed during a series of meetings and tests of future Nissan products in Japan. This is also where we got our first look at the upcoming 2027 Rogue, a highly anticipated vehicle that will inevitably overshadow the 2026 Rogue PHEV.

Richard Candler, Nissan’s global head of product strategy, told journalists that production of the Rogue PHEV is nearing its end already.

“It was important to quickly offer a hybrid SUV in this segment, which also allowed us to rank higher in online searches, but the launch of the Rogue e-Power changes everything,” he said.

While Nissan had failed to lay out a clear long-term plan for the Rogue PHEV, we’re still a bit surprised to see that it will likely bow out after a single model year.

With the Rogue PHEV not expected to return next year, it will go down as one of the shortest-lived products in Nissan’s history. The company will probably be able to meet demand until this fall when the fourth-generation 2027 Rogue e-Power goes on sale.

For the record, Nissan Canada has not yet officially confirmed that the Rogue PHEV will not return for 2027. It’s only just a matter of time.
