2026 Volvo XC70 returns as plug-in hybrid SUV with 200 km EV range
Volvo XC70 is officially making a comeback — the Swedish brand is reviving the iconic model in a new format. In 2025, the XC70 will debut as a modern crossover, combining comfort, safety, and advanced hybrid technologies.
Compared to the XC60, the new XC70 is slightly larger and more spacious, offering additional room in the cabin and trunk, making it ideal for family use or long-distance trips.
Details about the powertrain are still under wraps, but some information is available. This mid-size crossover is a plug-in hybrid with an extended range. It can travel up to 200 km (124 miles) on electric power alone, with a gasoline engine serving as a generator to charge the battery, providing a total range of approximately 805 kilometers (500 miles).
The crossover is built on the new Volvo SMA (Sustainable Modular Architecture) platform, designed specifically for electrified mid-size models. This platform ensures efficiency, cutting-edge technologies, and a spacious interior, aligning with the concept of the new XC70.
