If you thought Chinese cars were just cheap and cheerful alternatives to the European mainstream, think again. The BYD Sealion 7 is here to challenge your perceptions and tempt you out of your premium German SUV.
BYD’s calling its latest model an ‘electric performance SUV’, and on paper, it ticks a lot of boxes. There’s a choice of battery and motor combinations, with the most efficient models managing more than 300 miles of range, plus 0-62mph in less than five seconds. Top-spec models get ultra-rapid 230kW charging too.
Inside, there’s loads of tech – including BYD’s famous rotating touchscreen – and plenty of high-quality materials that do a pretty convincing job of making the Sealion feel like a properly premium product.
