Toyota has released equipment and pricing details for the 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid lineup, which now includes a GR Sport trim. Unlike the hybrid models, which are more expensive than before, the PHEVs come with lower prices than last year.
“We’ve created four distinct, value-packed configurations of the new RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid – including the first-ever GR Sport model. These join the seven RAV4 hybrid models already on sale,” Toyota Canada VP Robert Tsang said.
The entry-level SE model costs $48,750 (MSRP), a drop of $2,965 compared to the previous model. It includes a 10.5-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other standard features include 18-inch wheels, a sunroof, heated seats and steering wheel, plus a six-speaker audio system.
The price drop is more modest for the XSE model, which now retails for $56,400, or just $155 below 2025. This one stands out visually with 19-inch wheels, synthetic leather upholstery with blue stitching, vertical LED headlights and a rear bumper protector. When it comes to technology, look for a 9-speaker JBL audio system, 12.9-inch infotainment display, ventilated front seats and wireless charging for mobile phones.
The XSE Technology Package is priced at $59,350—$2,595 less than before—and adds more safety features, a head-up display, panoramic sunroof and power liftgate with kick-sensor for hands-free operation. Unlike the others, it also includes a CCS1 port enabling fast charging. Toyota claims it takes about 30 minutes to charge the battery from 10-80 percent.
New GR Sport Model
Inspired by the GR Corolla, GR Supra and GR86, the Toyota RAV4 gets a GAZOO Racing performance treatment for 2026 (pictured in the photo gallery). It starts with exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers, unique bumpers and a larger rear spoiler. Inside, paddle shifters adorn the steering wheel, while GR-branded bucket seats with red stitching complete the interior. However, it’s not just about looks, as the RAV4 GR Sport has been designed to deliver enhanced handling thanks to a sport-tuned suspension with high-performance dampers.
As far as convenience and technology go, this model builds on the SE by adding a 12.9-inch multimedia display, vertical LED headlights, wireless charging, auto-dimming rearview mirror, door sill plates, rear bumper protector and panoramic view monitor. The MSRP is set at $57,500.
In the performance department, all 2026 Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid models combine a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with two electric motors to produce 324 horsepower, an increase of 22 horsepower compared to the previous generation. According to Toyota, they also offer 20% more all-electric drive range of 80 km. Oh, and SE and XSE models can tow up to 3,500 lbs.
The 2026 Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid will arrive at dealerships early this spring. Competitors include the Ford Escape PHEV (whose production ended in December of 2025), Hyundai Tucson PHEV, Kia Sportage PHEV, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and the new Nissan Rogue PHEV (a clone of the Outlander PHEV).
