Yamaha AEROX-E Performance EV Walkaround | High-Performance Electric Scooter | OVERDRIVE

Yama has unveiled four new products for the Indian market and the big news is that they are going electric and big news indeed because what we see here is an AOX E, not an AOX with a Y, but an AOX with an E because this has gone fully electric. Now, what we’re looking at is a similar form factor of a Maxi scooter with that big spine in between forming that X. So, in terms of the design, you can immediately tell that this is an Aerox. Though, however, if you look at the headlights, it is looking a little different. You get the segmented DRL pattern on top that you’ll see here, but overall, the design is still very much similar to the AOX 155 that we know so far. Now, in terms of the electric powertrain, what you’re looking at is a 9 kWh motor. And all those green or teal accents are going to instantly tell you that, you know, this is an electric and that is where the hardware sits. But the bigger news is that the underneath storage, the underseat storage has been reduced a little bit because what you get under this panel right here are two individual battery packs and you’re going to get a combined range of about 106 km from it. Is that enough for a power scooter like this? Let me know. But the power figures definitely sound quite good. In fact, I’m going to quickly show you what the batteries look like. And it is a bit of a workout taking these out. They are a little heavy and there are two of those. But for those of you who probably don’t have a private parking or don’t have the option of charging in your parking lot, this is a very good option because you will be able to take the batteries back home and that is what your charger is going to look like. So that gives you a quick idea on what it is like. And another interesting bit is if you look at the rear, so that’s the kind of socket that you get. So, in certain public charging areas, you will still be able to use that if you so need. It also comes with the wireless functionality for the key fob. Unfortunately, that has not been kept here, which is why I can’t show you the display, but you get a full color LCD panel right here. LCD or TFT. We’ll need to see what that is, but it is a full color display that you get here. This is the switch gear for it. You also get the hazard light on top. So, it is pretty familiar territory. Like I said, the entire form factor is very similar to what we’ve seen with the AOX. Now, in terms of the riding modes, you’re going to get three of them. There is the eco, there’s the standard, and there is the power mode as well. And there’s also or a sport mode, and there’s also a boost function for when you need that quick boost of power to pull that quick overtake or negotiate a gap in traffic, etc. There’s also a reverse mode if you so need, obviously, for a heavy vehicle like this. And now with electric, yeah, you will need that reverse mode. I don’t know what the weight of the scooter is with its electrified avatar. They have not shared all the details just yet. But uh the launch is going to happen very soon. We are expecting a price of about 2.5 lakh rupees for it. Let me know what do you think about the price, the specs and does it meet your expectations of an electric Yamaha? Let me know in the comments below. [Music]
