The Flying Flea: Royal Enfield’s Retro-Futuristic bike | EICMA 2025

Royal Enfield has just gone electric. And no, this isn’t the drill. This is the Flying Flea, and I’ve had a whole year to practice saying that. This is a brand new electric subbrand that somehow feels both futuristic and straight out of the 1940s. Yeah, Royal Enfield just made retro electric cool. This one was completely my fault. Welcome back, Sprocketeers. I’m Safi Sprocket coming to you from Eggma 2025. And today we’re stepping into completely new territory for Royal Enfields because this this right here is the Flying Flea. Royal Enfield’s brand new electric motorcycle brand. Yes, you’ve heard that right. Royal Enfield has officially gone electric. Now, before anyone panics, this isn’t the end of petrol powered Nfields. This is a whole new branch, a whole new identity aimed squarely at urban riders who still want character, style, simplicity, and a little bit of tongue twisters. And this is what Royal Enfield has made. If the name Flying Flea might sound familiar, it might be because it’s a call back to one of the most famous Royal Enfield machines from the 1940s. Or maybe it’s a call back to last year when I had 52 attempts at trying to pronounce it. Now, the machine from the 1940s, A125 two-stroke, built to be air dropped by parachutes during World War II. It was light, it was agile, and it was built for exploration, a little bit like me. And we have the same spirit in what’s being reborn here. So, let’s talk about what is actually behind me. Now, the Flying Flea brand launches with two models. We have the C6, which is this one right here. It is a classic styled roadster and we also have the S6 which we’ll go and take a look at after which is a scrambler variant. Now both bikes have been built from the ground up as fully electric motorcycles. In fact, the C6 will be the first to hit the road with retail expectations around spring 2026 and is aimed at what Royal Enfield calls city plus. In other words, urban riders who still want to escape the freedom. Yeah, I just realized what I said. I I know. I know. No more freedom for you. It’s aimed at what Royal Enfield calls city plus space. In other words, it’s open riders who still want the freedom to escape the city’s limits. And visually, let’s be honest, this thing is stunning. The Flying Flea C6 is a retro futuristic blend of vintage proportions and space age materials. The first thing that grabs you is the forged aluminium grade style front fork. Like, that is incredible. And it’s a nod to the early 20th century motorbike, but completely re-engineered for a modern era. It gives the bike this distinctive upright stance, an instantly recognizable face. The frame itself is forged aluminium, lightweight yet solid, and the magnesium battery casing doubles as an art piece. You can’t deny it. It’s full of flowing thin details designed to optimize cooling whilst giving it more of a sculptural aesthetic. Everything about this design screams attention to detail and also attention. Right down from the wing-shaped battery to the flying flea logo on the side. It is the spirit of freedom and flight. Then there’s the tech and this is where things get properly futuristic. Royal Enfield has developed the entire electric platform inhouse from the motor to the battery management system and even custom software and vehicle control units. They’ve already filed over 28 patents in the last 6 months alone. This means that this isn’t just a rebadged ebike or a joint venture. This is groundup EV programming built by Royal Enfield’s 200 strong engineering team split between the UK and India. Now, the Flying Flea uses a bespoked vehicle control unit that can manage over 200,000 ride mode combinations, adjusting everything from throttle responses also to braking and regenerative behavior. It’s basically a digital personality changer. You can make it calm for your commute or you can make it a little bit wilder for your weekend. Now, it’s got lean angle sensing, ABS, cruise control, phone as a key technology, and overthe-air updates. Even the dash is a round touchscreen cluster, a mixture of classic shape and cuttingedge function. It’s exactly the kind of tech blend that makes sense for Royal Enfield. Modern where it matters, and traditional where it counts. Now, the goal here with this bike is to make electric riding simple, affordable, and fun. Not a tech exercise, but something that feels like a proper motorcycle. Now, what is most interesting about this machine is the tone of the project itself. The Flying Flea isn’t just about chasing futuristic minimalism or even about chasing hyperformance. It’s about keeping the soul of motorcycleycling alive, but in an incoming electric era. It’s about design, emotion, accessibility, and the classic Royal Enfield feel just delivered silently. And yes, this marks a huge strategic move. Royal Enfield has invested heavily in EV R&D, including a dedicated factory space and a global engineering network. And the flying fleet is just the first step. And you can expect the range to grow and grow quickly with the C6 leading the charge and the S6 Scrambler following soon after. Now, sitting here on the show floor, the Flying Fleet doesn’t feel like a prototype. It feels like just an incredible statement that has just been dropped almost out of the middle of nowhere. Perhaps that’s what they were going for. But what I can say is that it is a retrostyled EV that still tugs at the same heartstrings as the old school Nfields, but just wrapped in tech that actually makes sense for modern riders. It’s elegant, it’s connected, and genuinely exciting to look at. I look at this thing and I my heart skips a beat. But what do you think, Sprocketeers? I know EVs are a bit of a Marmite situation, but has Royal Enfield just cracked the code for accessible, stylish electric motorbikes. Would you ride one of these maybe through the city or maybe even beyond? Now, let me know down below because this might be the most important new chapter in Enfield story yet. I’m Safi Sprocket reporting from Eggma 2025. In the meantime, ride safe, stay crazy, and as always, keep those sprockets spinning. This one was completely my fault.

Royal Enfield has officially gone electric, and the internet is losing it! Meet the 2026 Flying Flea C6 and S6, Royal Enfield’s first-ever electric motorcycle, revealed at EICMA 2025. It’s retro, it’s futuristic, and it’s already dividing opinions among bikers. In this video, I take you on a first look at Royal Enfield’s bold new sub-brand, Flying Flea, built entirely from the ground up as a fully electric platform. From the forged aluminium girder fork to the magnesium battery casing and a vehicle control unit that can manage over 200,000 ride mode combinations, this thing is awe-inspiring.

But here’s the big question: has Royal Enfield managed to keep the soul of motorcycling alive in the electric era? Or is this the beginning of the end for classic Enfield charm? #RoyalEnfield #FlyingFlea #ElectricMotorcycle #EICMA2025 #SaffySprocket
