2026 Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid First Look and Test Drive!

What’s up everybody and welcome to the channel. In today’s video, we’re checking out the allne 2026 Toyota Rav 4. This one’s an XSSE finished off in Stormcloud. It’s also the plug-in hybrid along with the all-wheel drive. So, let’s see what Toyota did with the allnew RAV 4, brand new generation. They’re only available with hybrids. Of course, you can get standard hybrids or plugins on most models. So, underneath the hood, this does get a 2 and 1/2 L inline 4-cylinder. And the plug-in hybrid pumps out a net horsepower of 324. The engine has 172 pound- feet of torque. Can also run on 87 octane fuel. And then for EV driving, you’re looking at about a 50 mile range. Now, for this specific car, you can get 45 m per gallon in the city and then 39 out on the highway. Overall curb weight is going to be about 4,400 lb and then towing is even 3500 lb. So, pretty capable EV system. Not too bad at all. For the XSSE, you got these nice LED headlights with a nice daytime running light style, the new hammerhead design for the grill, black trim, and then I like how the XSSE has this cool body colored grill with these silver trim pieces all throughout it. It’s a cool look. We have a forward camera, parking sensors, a nice LED light, a little bit of black trim on the side, and then a nice front splitter finished in the piano black. So, it’s a pretty cool looking new crossover. I like how it’s pretty sporty. In Toyota’s new lineup for the RAV 4, they basically have the core trims, the off-road, and then the sporty. The GR Sport is the top trim for sport, and then the XSSE would be the one step below it. So, you’re still going to get a lot of the power just without some of the performance suspension. Now, you’re going to get a nice set of 20-in wheels finished off in the piano black. I like the piano black for the fender arches as well. And then you have the trim down below in the same color. You’re going to see more of the black on the mirror caps. Turns on camera. You also have body color door handles and then a fully blacked out roof. This one’s going to get a panoramic sunroof up above with black roof rails. And then for the side profile, it’s got a good profile overall with good proportions. I like the sharp bold lines all throughout it. Definitely is a lot more bold than the old one. So, it looks really good. In back, you can see an integrated spoiler, nice black trim, LED taillights with more of the black trim, and then the rear bumper finish off in black with the silver color as well. Got all your parking sensors, the XSE badge, plug-in hybrid logo, as well as all-wheel drive. And then there’s a button back here. Just press it once, open up the rear lift gate. You have the charge port on the driver’s side, as well as the fuel cap back here. You’re going to get about 33 1/2 cubic feet of cargo volume with these seats up and then 63 and 1/2 with them folded down. So, nice area here. You can also pull this up for your spare tire and storage. Got a little storage net on the right side, JBL sub, and you have easy access. You reach these, fold everything down, and notice how it’s all nice and flat. No crazy bump or anything. It’s all pretty well packaged, especially for being a hybrid vehicle with a rather large battery. 22.7 kWh. And then as we make our way to the interior, just grabbing the door handle. As you can tell, that is a nice flat seat configuration. Pulling this up, we have two levels of recline. So, makes it pretty useful and comfortable. This can see three people, of course. In the back, we have our armrest with cup holders. There’s going to be USB plugs, air vents, storage as well. And the XSSE has this nice micro suede with these softex and blue stitching. So, it’s a pretty cool looking interior. Door panels have a soft touch up above. And then you have this padded soft touch material throughout the centers. Grab handles are also integrated storage bins, so you can put your phone there quite nicely. And then as I make my way to the interior, sitting here at 5′ 11 with a driver seat on my height, you’re going to have good leg room and foot room. Plenty of headroom even with a fully panoramic roof. Angles are nice to sit in here and it’s a comfortable seat. Supports me well. I also love how big these windows are and how small the frames are. So, it gives you just a really open interior, especially once you open up that roof. But can’t complain at all. Making my way to the front seat now. You have the smart key where you can lock and unlock it. Get all the soft touch once again, the padding. There’s memory seating, all of your controls, same grab handle with storage all integrated, power seats as well. And then you can see the blue stitching, the micro suede. Really cool look all around. So, sweet interior. And then as we make our way to the interior now, foot on the brake. Let’s fire it up. Don’t necessarily hear the engine turn on every time being a plug-in hybrid. Got a nice black leather wrapped steering wheel. Cruise control settings are going to be on the right. Screen controls as well as volume on the left. Paddle shifters to help kind of put you in the right gear that you want to be in, especially when you’re going downhill. And then we have the stock on the right for windshield wipers. Headlights over on the left. Now, for the gauge cluster, you have a couple different that you can scroll through, which is a nice touch to see. So, you can see the different ones with all the information you’re going to need. So, very easy to access everything you’re going to want. Over here we have our power lift gate, interior lighting, and then more of the soft touch. You have nice design throughout it with a heads-up display, kind of a leveled look. It’s a very interesting look, but it does look nice in person. We have tons of storage, more soft touch, and the allnew multimedia screen. Looks really good. It works very well. It feels very much like a Apple or Google product. So, very customizable drive mode you can configure. So, pretty nice the way everything looks when you play with it. configuring the mode. You can also adjust a little bit which is a pretty cool touch. And then we also have full screen nav, audio information, phone integration, and being a plugin, you got some of your electronic information as well. Tons of settings you can go through. And then for this trim, we have this small shifter. Keeps it nice and out of the way. If I go into reverse, we have a good looking backup camera, HD graphics, top down view. In to drive, we have now have a front camera and then tap the P button for park. So for climate, it’s always going to be this little bar right here. So your fan speed’s right in the center. We have all your zones. Temperature, however, is always in these physical dials. So it’s pretty easy to use. You can also do that. You can see it’s in steering wheel. The volume in the center with defrost. Then you’re going to see your air vents. Now, all these four buttons are pretty neat. We have our normal drive mode. You can easily just toggle into. And then we have a snow and trail mode. So you’re going to have a cool depiction for all that. Drive mode over here just to toggle the main ones that we already showed. And then this button right here is for the EV system. So, this we can toggle the bottom left. You’ll see it. We have auto, hybrid, and EV mode. So, nice way where you can fully drive this in electric mode, even full throttle, wireless charging, tons of storage, more storage all here. We have plugs, parking, view camera, icon, and then we have the downhill assist and traction. Lots of storage right here. And then the center armrest has a nice storage area, or you can just flip it completely around. And we have a nice padded armrest where you can open it both ways. You got tons of storage, so it definitely makes it pretty easy. And then our lockable glove box on the far right side. One last look at the interior. It’s nicely laid out, honestly, in person especially. Just kind of fits as you would expect. Nice materials, plenty of space, and tons of tech. Got a sunglass holder up above, glass controls, and garage buttons underneath the mirror. All right, so setting off now in the allne 2026 RAV 4. You do have trail modes in this one, so it’s nice to see that for that type of driving. And if we just put it into EV mode, normal mode, we’re going to be in fully electric mode, and we can accelerate up to speed with no engine, even full throttle, no big deal. There’s not really a speed limit. You can drive this fully electric, no big deal, which is an awesome touch. So, really cool the way the plug-in hybrid, of course, works with a car like this. I mean, look at that. Full throttle in electric mode. You can see the front end lifting up. So, that is a really nice touch. Now, if I go to the auto, the engine, you will hear kick in and you have that extra power. So, I really like the hybrid integration, especially with a plugin that can go like 50 miles on just the battery. That is really useful. You could literally fill up, you know, once or twice a month with this car and you have like a 600 mile range if you’re just doing long haul driving. So, the integration is nice. The way the screen works, this has been awesome. This is a huge step up from the old one. feels very much like a phone and Google like altogether. So, I’m really liking the way that works. Overall ride quality, we’re just in normal mode now. You know, it’s pretty comfortable. You have a really good view around. The mirrors all do a great job over your left and right shoulder. I mean, plenty of good visibility. So, it’s just a kind of a nice car to be in. It feels like a RAV 4, but it feels so much better than the old one. It just feels like a nice comfortable car. The seats are very well padded. They’re supporting my legs nicely. Armrests are comfortable, too. Steering is comfortable and the power delivery is really good, especially with the EV power. I mean, this car makes quite a lot of horsepower and really good torque from the drivetrain. And even with the ECVT transmission, not everyone’s the biggest fan of the CVT in general. This it makes sense given it’s got the EV system cuz that’s what really is propelling this car. So, it just drives easy and seamless. Even if we go into eco mode, you know, it’s a little bit more conservative with the throttle pedal, but it’s a seamless integration with the engine and electronics, and it is super peppy, so no complaints with the driving. There’s great storage all around it. Honestly, this would just be a fantastic family car or whatever. I mean, this is kind of something that can do everything. It’s very wellrounded. I like the XSSE. It’s a little sporty without being the GR. So, it’s kind of that good blend of you want a nice comfortable one with all the luxuries, all that, but you know, sporty touch as well. Cruise control, all that works really well. I mean, really no complaints. It just seems like a nice to drive car. And even, you know, the ride quality, it’s super quiet there. And even if you do take this off-road or something, I mean, it just seems to do a lot. Yeah. Very good. Very good.

👋 Today we take a full look at the all new 2026 Toyota Rav4! For 2026 Toyota has completely re designed the Rav4 and they are all electrified! The 2026 Rav4 either comes as a hybrid or a plug in hybrid. This video shows the 2026 Toyota Rav4 XSE PHEV AWD. Under the hood you’ll find a 2.5L inline 4 cylinder Plug In Hybrid pumping our 327 net HP. The eCVT sends the power to the AWD system and this can get about 50 MPG and drive on fully electric mode for 50 miles! The new style with the 2026 Rav4 XSE in Storm Cloud looks great! Bold style all around and a nice blacked out look for the wheels, roof and lower trim. The interior of the new 2026 Rav4 XSE has tons of standard features like a panoramic sunroof and vented seats. I like all the storage areas for the interior of the 2026 Rav4 and the build quality is really good. Plastics feel nice and don’t rattle and the finish looks good everywhere with soft touch points. Driving the new 2026 Rav4 is very pleasant. Comfortable seats and a quiet ride. Suspension is comfortable yet responsive. The power delivery with the plug in hybrid Rav4 is awesome! This accelerates very quickly up to speed and is smooth. The EV power is just awesome for a car like this. In EV mode you can go full throttle even at highway speeds in pure electric. Even in EV mode the new Rav4 is pretty quick. The multimedia is all new for the 2026 Rav4 and Toyota did a nice job with the interface. Very snappy with large tiles and it looked great in the interior. Easy to use and also has very HD 360 cameras. The cameras are also a built in dash cam! So for the 2026 Toyota Rav4 XSE PHEV, this is one great way to go for a crossover SUV. I really like these new Rav4’s and for sure there is a trim level to fit many buyers needs!
