2026 Ford Escape Plug-in Hybrid Review! What’s New??

Welcome back to MCI Ford. Today we’re taking a look at the brand new 2026 Ford Escape. This one here is the plug-in hybrid model finished in star white and it’s going to have that hybrid plug-in powertrain. Now, we’re going to take you on a full tour of this brand new 2026 Escape. We’ll start here with the front end. Now, this one is fully equipped. It does have that plug-in hybrid premium package. So, this is a really, really well equipped version of the Escape. Here you got your LED projector headlights with the fog lights down below, the gloss black grill there, and you do have that LED light strip that also runs the top uh section of the grill there. Really, really sharp looking vehicle. Now, coming around to the side here, uh the plug-in hybrid does use an exclusive 18-in wheel there, as well as the Michelin tires. Nice low rolling resistance, so that’s going to give you that extra bit of range. Now, speaking of range, right here is the charge port door. So, this is where you’re going to go ahead and plug in the vehicle with the supplied power cord. just plugs into a regular wall outlet or you can also use a 240 volt plug which will uh certainly uh decrease the charging time. Uh but that’s where the charging port is and on the side same side is actually the fuel door. So that’s going to be the fuel door right there in the back. Uh so it’s nice to have them both on the same side there. Now again this is a 2026 model. Uh this is these are just starting to trickle in here at the dealership at McI Ford. Very similar as last year. There’s a couple of new uh package offerings and option changes, but it is still very much a carryover from last year. Uh the styling is is is quite similar. Now, coming around to the back there, you do have the LED lights as well, just like the front ones, and then the parking sensors. Class 2 hitch on the back. So, this does have the trailer toe package. So, you have the class 2 receiver with the four pin connector. Now, let’s go ahead and we’ll take a look into the interior of this new Escape. Now, this one has uh that premium package again, which is actually going to give you a different seating material. This is the full leather seat, and it’s going to be heated. They’re fully power. You get this really nice kind of stitch design there on the insert of the seat there. Really, really nice. It’s very soft material. Uh so, again, that’s a nice upgrade here on this particular one. Lots of storage in the door, soft touch material again, and also with that premium package, you do get the 10 speakeraker BNO sound system. So, you do have the upgraded audio system here. Great to have. Now, let’s go ahead and we’ll uh we’ll hop inside. Now, being the plug-in hybrid model, you’re going to get the gas four-cylinder engine up front and also the electric motor and battery setup. The Escape is really offered in four different uh powertrain setups. You have two EcoBoost engines as well as two hybrid options. So, this is the plug-in hybrid, whereas you also have the standard non-plugin hybrid model. This one is going to give you up to about 60 kilometers of full electric range, which makes this a perfect perfect daily driver doing those daily commutes without using a single drop of fuel. So, that is really cool. But if you need that extra range, maybe you’re doing a road trip, you have the gas engine to back you up. So, really, really cool system here. You have your automatic transmission selector, and these are also frontwheel drive, so you do have the maximum amount of range. Now, moving on to the rest of the interior. Right here in the center of the dashboard is your center infotainment screen. It’s a 13.2 in display, so it is pretty big. And it’s going to include wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, you know, all the different connectivity options are standard there. We have lots of storage below with the wireless charging pad, uh even a 360 camera system, which can be really helpful um having the different views uh that are available through this uh through this camera system. And then on the right side here, you do have your 12vt and USB power. Moving back a little further here, lots of storage. Uh the steering wheel is also going to be that nice kind of soft wrapped material and it is heated. Uh so great for the winter time. And on top of that, the mirrors uh and again the seats are heated and also the rear window. The whole defrost is is also standard here. Fully digital gauge cluster which is also a great option here on these uh on these top end Escapes is the fully digital gauge cluster. Now let’s go ahead and we’ll take a look into the rear seat of the Escape. You’re again going to have the black leather seats back here. Really nice material. It’s very soft and this is going to be a a really great space because the seats are actually reclinable. So, you can go ahead and adjust the backs of the seats there, which just makes the rear uh seat comfort level just even that much better. And there’s a little armrest in the middle there with some cup holders. You got chargers, storage in the back of the seat. Again, just a really, really great space. Now, let’s come around to the trunk area. Uh this is fully power on this particular model. So, with the uh rear end of the Escape here or the back end at the trunk uh is going to be the power cords. This is your charger for the vehicle. This is just a standard level one charger. And it, you know, it plugs into your standard 110 120 volt outlet. Uh, which is great. So, you don’t have to install some special uh, you know, charger. It just takes a regular wall plug. And this right here is actually just a little cover uh, the cold weather cover, which Ford now includes on all of their vehicles as well. So, there’s the two accessories in the back. There’s also lots of space underneath. Uh, so if you pull this out here, this is where you’re going to find the spare tire. There is also a 12volt battery which is actually hidden underneath of there which just kind of power some of the accessories. But there’s even storage options underneath of the trunk here which is great. And then you can also fold those rear seats down to open up the space even more.
