Tata Harrier EV In-Depth Review | Must Watch For Buyers – Everything Explained

Happy viewing. Hey guys, welcome to Motors. My name is Amit and this as you would know is the Tata Harrier. Tata’s reply to what Mahindra did a few months ago with the XCV90 and the BE6. And have they managed to give a befitting reply? Well, we’ll soon find out. But the one thing where they really have an advantage is the fact that they have offered an all-wheel drive with the Harrier and that really is the ace they have up their sleeves. So let’s start with the design of this car and as you can see it’s very similar to what the ice Harrier looks like and that bonnet that DRL and generally speaking the face of this car is familiar but as you can see the grill here is different and at the bottom also you have a different design. There are additional features and of course underneath a lot of changes have been made. The suspension is superior and the under body is different of course to accommodate the new 65 and 75 kWh batteries. So let’s have a look at what we have up front here. And you have a 360° camera here. You have this Tata logo and the ADAS module which has as many as 23 features. And it also operates at relatively slower speeds thanks to its ultrasonic applications and fine-tuning by Tata. So in that sense, Tata claims that this car operates at sub40 speeds also more efficiently than most of its counterparts. Then you also have this combination of LED projector and fog lamp which also has a cornering function and it also comes with high beam assist in the higher variants. Now talking of the variants, this one is the top of the line variant which is the empowered QWD variant which means all-wheel drive. But you also have two other variants. So at the bottom of the pile you have the adventure variant and somewhere in the middle you have the fearless. Then you have the empowered variant and the top-of-the-line variant is the empowered QWD which comes with all-wheel drive and also a boost function that allows this car to accelerate from 0 to 100 in only 6.3 seconds. We’ll do that soon. Now, before we go to the side, let’s pop open that bonnet and see how much of a frunk space we have there. So, this here is the all-wheel drive variant, which means that you have a motor underneath and that’s why you have slightly lesser space. So, you have about 35 lit of space here, and it can take 17 kgs. But if you go with the two wheel drive variant, which is the rear wheel drive variant, you’ll get a higher 65 L of frunk and the storage value in terms of kgs also would be higher there. As you can see, it is lined with this soft cushion. So, it doesn’t make any noise and you also have a lot of insulation under the bonnet as well. The one thing that I probably want to complain about is that this is not hydraulic. So, you’ll have to hold it with the hand and you have to use this strut to keep the bonnet up. Coming towards the side, this car gets 19in wheels. For the lower variants, it gets 16-in wheels. The ground clearance has not been mentioned, but by the looks of it, it’s easily above 200 mm. You also have this EV branding here. The one thing that you notice is that you have this 360° camera module here. And we’ll also have a look at how good or bad the camera unit itself is in terms of the projection and the resolution and the functionality. But more on that later. The greenhouse area is pretty big. You also have this footboard here to help people who are not of a certain height get inside more easily. This is a 5-seater variant going forward. We’ll soon see the safari also, which is the seven-seater variant. But just like the Harrier, the seating here is quite comfortable. The greenhouse area is pretty big, and it has a very nice silhouette. It gets these arrow wheels which have low rolling resistance. And the suspension setup on this car, as I mentioned, is also now overhauled. It also gets frequency selective damping which Tata is calling frequency dependent damping and it’s similar to what we have seen earlier on the the Jeep Meridian and the Jeep Compass. We have also seen that on quite a few Mahindra cars and it gets a mechen strut up front with stabilizer bars and a five link suspension setup at the rear. Now coming towards the rear. The lighting setup is pretty familiar, but a new addition here is a camera on the shark fin antenna and it projects whatever it sees onto the IRVM. And it’s quite an advanced unit. I’m going to show you how it works just in a bit. And you have a little Easter egg here, a lion with its two cubs. Of course, you get a rear wash and wipe along with a rear demyister. This car also comes with a powered tailgate and this here is a slightly differentiated design element. Now the boot space here is 52 L as mentioned by Tata but that would be up to the roof. So if you want to count the amount of boot space that you have here only until the parcel tray shelf it would be lesser although that is not mentioned. Now you also get a space saver spare which is a very good thing. Generally in electric cars, manufacturers give a spare a miss. But since this is a QWD, it’s very good to know that there is a spare and you have the assurance of having a spare tire in case you get a flat. This is your charging socket. And it’s slightly on the deeper side. In terms of charging, this car will support up to 120 kW of charging. And the standard charger that comes here is a little over 7 kW. And I’ll let you know all the charging times now. Basically, you have two battery packs. This one is the 65 kW R and then you have this big battery pack which is a 75 kW R. And of course the charging times are going to be different for the two battery packs. So with the standard 7.2 kW wall charger for the lower battery pack, you’ll be able to charge this car from 10 to 100% in about 9.3 hours and the bigger battery pack will take 10.7 hours to charge. However, if you find a 120 kW charger, 20 to 80% of charging can be taken care of in just 25 minutes, even for the bigger battery pack. Of course, this car also gets vehicle to load, so you can power a lot of your electric equipment as well. And that feature, of course, has been taken care of by Tara. Fancy swipe out blinkers and a really nice shape, which always was a hairier USB, is there on this car as well, and it does look the part when on the road. And that’s another area where this car will win a lot of buyers because unlike the Mahindra cars which are beautifully designed but they are on the funkier side this one is more conformist and would be appreciated by a wider range of age groups. So right from the teenagers all the way to the people who are not too young are going to find this car more agreeable. Now I would love to take you inside the car first but before that it’s very important that I demonstrate to you what the key of this car looks like and what this card looks like. This is NFC enabled. So these are the two physical ways in which you can enter the car. Apart from this, you’ll also have a digital key which can reside in your phone through the app and you can share it with as many as seven family members or friends. So everybody can access it. So there are multiple ways in which you can enter the car and this specific key fob as you can see apart from having the lock, unlock, boot release and locate functions. Also has the ignition button where you can just crank the car up or just turn the battery on make it ready to drive so that the cabin is pre-cooled and you can also move the car for and aft and you can also summon it. So basically what you can do is if your car is parked in a tight spot, you can take it out without having to struggle to get inside. This car also comes with an auto park function and you can find parking slots and the car is going to park itself into the car. So these modern parking aids have been incorporated in this car. The Mahindra electric cars also have a similar functionality, but it’s fantastic to know that Tata have also introduced these features in this car. Of course, you don’t really have to take the key out of your pocket. And once you open the door, you’ll be welcomed by an interior which is similar yet different. What are the similarities and what are the differences? Let’s get in and find out. So the first thing is that this car also gets an OBM projector. So in the night you’ll see a very nice Harrier projection onto the ground and it also gets this nice lamp here. The materials are soft to touch. Here you have uh this nice soft to touch armrest although the rest of the panel is hard plastic. You also have a very generous panel here where you can easily accommodate up to 1.5 L of a bottle. And you also have some more space to spare. Now, while the driver’s side window is one-touch, auto down and up, you have to keep it pressed for a couple of seconds for the one-touch function to come into effect. Now, to get inside, the seat height, as you can see, is slightly higher. You also get this sixway electric adjustment for the driver’s seat and four-way adjustment for the passenger seat as well. You also get a three-way memory function for the driver’s seat. And both the seats up front are ventilated as well. For the top-of-the-line variant, as you can see, it comes in this beautiful dark and light gray color. And what do you think of this interior color scheme? Do let me know. You have this nice embellishment here. Also, while you reverse, the mirrors are going to tilt downwards so that you have a very good understanding of where the curb is. And even without using the footboard, someone like me who’s 5′ 10 can simply slide into the car. So, it’s not all that difficult to get in. Now, one thing that I probably would have wanted this car to have is the seat going further backward because if you’re a tall person, your knees are going to foul with the dashboard. And that is something which probably could have been solved by allowing the seat to move slightly further back. A great thing about this car before we talk about anything else is that this comes with a JBL black audio system with Dolby Atmos and it comes with a 10 speaker system and it’s the first of its kind JBL system anywhere in the world and Tata really says that this is a fantastic sound system. Whether it really is we going to find out now. [Music] [Music] sound is coming from all directions. Anyway, the sound quality is fantastic and we can attest to that now and Tata have tried to match Mahindra with this audio system because they also came up with a kick-ass audio system. Now let’s also quickly have a look at this screen. Now this is 14.5 in. Now an important addition to the Ice Harrier has been this screen which is a NeoQLid screen from Samsung and it has been integrated by Harmon. So it runs on Harmon system and it again is a world first according to Tata. It’s pretty thin and it is very very high resolution. Now before we start talking about all the functions on the screen, let’s start talking about the camera. And here you have either the wide mode or the narrow mode. And you also can go full screen. Now you have the front view or the side view or the rear view. You can also choose from 3D or 2D modes. So in the 3D mode you have the car projection and the camera by itself is pretty kick-ass. You can have a look at the car from some preset angles also. All of that is fantastic. Or you can have a look at the front or the rear two wheels. So, it’s fantastic because this car comes with a QWD all-wheel drive system. And this eliminates the need for a spotter. So, it’s it’s very nicely done. And the camera by itself is pretty good. Let’s exit this mode now. And once you do that, you’ll see that everything is tiled up very nicely. And it’s very easy to navigate. You have wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, you have Amazon Alexa. You also have an air purifier. You have arcade. Games. Then you have the auto park assist which allows you to look at the parking spots. And we’ll do a demo of how this works in another reel because otherwise the video will become too long. Then you have two zone climate control. You have DG access which basically allows you to pair a digital key with the car. You have the demo for the Dolby Atmos. Then a unique feature here is a drive pay. And what it does is you can connect your UPI account with the car. And once you have done that, you can connect your fast tag account with it. And if you’re going to be charging your car at any charging station, you don’t really have to bother about taking your phone out. You can make the payments if that specific charger is enabled for this service. You can pay it directly from this console itself. So that itself is a fantastic feature. And you can connect your UPI to the drive bay on this. Now the EV button allows you to have a look at the charging health, the charging assistance, basically everything to do with the electric and the battery part of the car. You also have an image viewer. You also have the JBL modes which basically allow you to choose from a variety of modes, basically presets. You can tune the settings according to your choice. You also have onboard storage for media. You have mood lighting. You have inbuilt navigation. Now one great thing about the inbuilt navigation here is that once you zoom out what you’ll realize is that it gives you this green circle which is the range that you can easily navigate to and after that you have that red circle which is still accessible but that range is a little bit dicey. So it lets you know the range that you can cover and it’s a fantastic feature to have. Then you also have this custom terrain mode. So of course you have quite a few modes to choose from. You have the normal mode which is the road mode. Then you have you have the snow grass mode, the mudruts mode, the sand mode, rock crawl mode and then this one here is the custom mode which again is the custom terrain mode that I was showing you. And here you can choose how exactly you want various different things to work. So you can choose the terrain mode, you can choose the drive mode, you can choose the region level and also you can choose you want the steering mode to be in comfort or sport mode and that is your custom terrain mode. Now apart from the terrain modes, you obviously have three different modes. You have the eco mode, you have the city mode and you also have a boost mode in which you will get the maximum power and it’s functional only until your SOC is above 50%. So once it goes below 50%, your boost mode will not work. Also, boost mode is available only in the top-of-the-line empowered QWD variant only. And in the boost mode, you’ll be able to do 0 to 100 in 6.3 seconds. Now, you also have a reverse assist which allows you to memorize the reversing path you took and will take you out if uh the area that you’re driving into is quite congested. And we’ve seen this technology on some other advanced cars also like BMWs and Tata have now introduced that feature here as well. In terms of safety, this car will get seven airbags and this is already a Bhat and Cap five-star rated car. So, in terms of safety that I have made sure like all of the other cars, this car is fantastic for the occupants as well as for child safety. Now, you don’t have any physical buttons here, but you have a lot of buttons here. So here you have the charging gun release, front and rear fog lamps, the two climate control zones, then you have this blower button, then you have the demyisters, circulation mode for your AC, then you have the sync for the two zones, AC on and off and auto modes. You also have this traction pro mode for areas where you don’t have enough traction. Now another great feature that you have is that this car has a 540 degree camera which means basically that you have a transparent bonnet kind of a feature. You can see what’s underneath the car. You don’t have a camera underneath but just the front camera after having passed through a certain surface it relays on and you can see it like it’s transparent. So what you have to do is you have to go to the settings and you have to turn the SPS convenience setting with transparent view on and that would bring the transparent bonnet feature on. And with that, what will happen is that once you turn the 360deree camera on, you’ll be able to see what’s underneath the car as well. So that’s another great feature that has been introduced to this car and it’s really appreciable. Overall, the camera quality is fantastic and the screen quality is fantastic. The audio is amazing. The IRA app is now available with 4 years of subscription and it works beautifully. Like for example, hey Ira, reduce the screen brightness. Sure. Decreasing display brightness to 9. So it works really well. And apart from this, like I mentioned, you have the camera projection from behind on the screen here. And all you have to do is just touch it. You have to remember that there are buttons which are not visible. And you can see these little dots here are the buttons that you really have to press on the icons themselves. Nothing will happen. You’ll have to press on the buttons and you can turn it off. And now it’s a normal RBM. And you can bring it on just by pressing that button here. Now you can zoom in or zoom out. You can lock the file. You can take a picture. There’s a QR code here. And you can scan this to connect. And by scanning with this, you’ll be able to browse the files that have been created while you uh were driving the car. What was created? Well, that’s another thing. This car also comes with a two-way camera. So, this also doubles up as your dash cam. So, you have an additional layer of safety. If there is an incident, you always have access to a file. So, that again is a fantastic feature. You can change the view. So you can basically change what you are looking at right now while the car is static, not while it’s moving. So for example, right now it’s giving you the front view. Now it’s giving you the front and rear view or just the rear view. Then you can go to the setting and you can change the brightness loop duration which is uh the duration of files that is created 1 minute, 2 minute or 3 minute. You can also turn the mic on or off so that your voice is also recorded along with whatever is being recorded as the dash cam. In advanced settings, you can format the SD card or reset the settings. So, that’s about the RVM here. It has quite a few functions. Now, that was about all the features on the infotainment. Apart from that, you also have this 10.25 in screen here. And let me just unwrap this for you because right now it has this film over it. That was very satisfying. Now, as you can see, there’s a lot of information. Right now, the range is 381 km. We have been idling for a very long time and I’ll let you know about the range while we driving the car. But you can have a look at a lot of uh information. So you have the driver assist mode. You have the vehicle info mode. This car of course comes with tire pressure monitoring system. Then you have the energy flow where it shows you whether the battery is getting uh charged through region or the power is flowing from a battery to the wheels, which motor is getting powered, all of those things. So, you can change uh whatever you want to see using this button here. And it’s reasonably customizable and it’s very clear as well. 10.25 in of screen size. And you also get these paddle shifters here which allow you to change the region level from level one to level two, level three, or you can just turn it off entirely as well. So, you go up from the right pedal and you go down from the left pedal. The steering wheel itself is tilt and telescopically adjustable. And interestingly enough, you have a start stop button here as well to put the car in the ready mode. On the right, you have all the ADAS and cruise control related functions. And on the left, you have all the audio related functions. It’s a four-spoke steering wheel. And it feels rather nice to be here. Everything is in place. You also have the controls for the mirrors. As I mentioned, the mirrors tilt down. You also have the blind spot monitoring system which is a light on the mirror itself. And as you can see right now once you drive the car and use the blinker you also have the projection on the screen itself. Now this projection could probably have been more high-res but it is a good feature to have. Anyway, now apart from that you also have wireless charging here. You have this USB socket which basically allows you to connect your phone wirelessly also and through the wire. And you have a 45watt high powered type C charger as well. All your controls for modes are sitting right here. So the drive modes are through these three buttons. You also have this parking assistant button and the terrain modes can be chosen using this dial. The drive selector is quite a nifty unit. You have electronic parking brake, auto hold, and this NFC icon that you see here is for the card that you’ll use to put the car in ignition mode. And the whole point of that card is that you can put it in your wallet and that you don’t really have to carry the whole key. You have two cup holders here. And you also have this little sliding armrest which hides an area which is cool. So if you have a can or any other consumable which you want to keep cool, you can put it here. You have a 12vt power socket and again you have two USB sockets here. One type A and one type C. This armrest as I mentioned slides. Now the seats by themselves are very supportive. They’re firm. They’re nice. They’re wide. They’re big. I could have done with a little more thigh support. Also, like I mentioned, for the taller people, their knees may foul with uh the dash here, but generally for people who are up to 5′ 10, 5′ 11, there should not be a problem. There’s a dead pedal here. So, for the long journey, there should not be a problem. The dash quality is also of a very good order. You have soft to touch material on top. The element on the central is also differentiated as compared to the ice harrier. And you also have soft to touch material at the lower end. Rest of the dash is this very nicely done piano black and you have this titanium inlay as well here. The AC works beautifully like it does with all Tata cars. And which brings me to this really big massive panoramic sunroof. I’ve opened this and you’ll be able to see by how far the moving glass panel goes. And let me just bring it on. It’s a onetouch operation, so you don’t really have to bother about anything. The sunroof here, if you push it back or bring it back forward, it won’t stop in place. To stop it in place, you really have to press it vertically. And it’s not very intuitive, but you need to make sure that you are pressing it vertically to stop it at any given point in time. Then you have these lights. And on the right hand side, you don’t have any vanity mirror, but on the left, you do. And you also have this illuminated. Let’s also have a quick look at the glove box. It’s a reasonably sized glove box and you also have this tray on top. So, it’s two-tier and you can store some of the stuff like your wallet or a cell phone on this tray as well. Finally, let’s also talk about the ambient lighting. And as you can see, you can change the mood lighting uh only at the front, at the rear, the roof, whatever. And you can choose the mood which is like nature, ocean, and all of those things. So it gives a particular hue to the entire cabin and you can edit it also. Now you can change the color and all of this is pretty customizable. So this car basically comes with ambient lighting and it also has various different modes and you can link that to the drive mode as well. Now like I mentioned this car comes with four variants and all the features of these variants variant by variant can be seen on the screen right now. [Music] In terms of the battery warranty, the top-of-the-line 75 5 kWh battery pack uh variant of this car will get you up to 15 years of warranty and that really is fantastic as long as you are the first owner of the car. Now in terms of colors you can get this car as I mentioned in three variants and every variant gets different color sets. So for the empowered top-of-the-line variant you’ll get this Nanita Noturn. You’ll get pristine white, pure gray and empowered oxide. For the middle fearless variant you’ll get pristine white and pure gray. And for the adventure variant, you’ll get pristine white and pure gray. Apart from these, you also have the all black stealth edition as well, which would appeal to those of you who like the cars in black. Now, as I unbuckle, you would do well to know that the seat belt is adjustable. And it’s time now for me to get to the back seat and tell you about how much space do we have there and the features that we have there. Now you have these blinds here which is fantastic and it’s really useful on days when you have the sun shining bright. The material here is soft to touch and you have a twin layered panel here so you can store a one lit water bottle here and you have some space for a wallet or a cell phone. Now as opposed to the front at the back it is a bit of a climb so it’s slightly more difficult to get in but you always have the footboard. So getting in whether you are tall or short is going to be easy because of the footboard. If you have that installed on the variant that you buy, get in. And as you can see, there is enough space for the feet. There is enough space for the knees and there is more than enough space for a person who’s up to 6 ft. Now, this roof probably could have been a little bit taller, but the great thing about this car’s back seat is that despite having a battery pack underneath, you don’t really have your knees pointing skyward. So you can sit here comfortably. I could probably have done with a slightly longer seat squab, but it’s not uncomfortable at all. It’s very nice. A great thing that you have here is that you have this flat floor, of course, because it’s an EV. So you have space to seat three, although I would have really liked this car to have a third individual headrest as well. Now talking of headrest, you have these special headrests which prevent your head from bobbing around. And if you’re on long journeys, it really helps because if you’re sleeping, it gives you support and it really makes it very very comfortable. Now, the seats here are also 60/40 split. So, if you want to extend your 52 L of boot space or you just want to access something, you have that flexibility and that really makes it more flexible. So, if you want to put your stuff, if you’re an adventure junkie, if you want to be putting stuff which uh is a part of your adventure gear, you can always make space for that by using a seat. Apart from that, you also get this armrest and this is adjustable to a very small level. You have these soft rubber material inside. So, it has some adjustability to it. Although it’s not like a properly adjustable cup holder, but it has some degree of adjustability. You of course have isopix style seat mounts and generally speaking the recline angle of the seat is good enough. I also would have wanted these seats to have a more adjustability in terms of the recline angle and this angle is all the recline that you have. But what I really like is that the cushioning on these seats especially for the passengers on the side is really good. This is a really soft material on the back also. You have a very nice soft material for the back and the lower back. And the seats by themselves are very comfortable. You have these reading lights, a coat hook, a handle, and you also get a high powered 65 watt type-c charger, which is going to charge your phone, a jify, and you also have a space for putting your wallet or a cell phone. Now, a great thing that you have here is that you have this electric control for the boss seat, and you can change the recline angle as well as the position of the seat just by the press of a button. So, if you’re sitting in the boss seat, your knee room, leg room, everything is going to be enhanced significantly. And you also have this pocket here. The AC vents are placed in the B-pillar. And generally speaking, this seat is quite comfortable. It’s very spacious. Is it the most spacious and the most comfortable? I cannot say that. But I really think that this is quite comfortable, quite spacious, and the adjustments and the flat floor really make it very comfortable to sit at. Also, the fact that this car now comes with frequency dependent damping and an improved suspension setup makes it an even more comfortable seat to sit at. What I forgot while sitting here was that this car also has lumbar support for the driver seat and it’s manual. All in all, a comfortable seat with a lot of features and flexibility. But is it the most comfortable seat? But I’ll just say that this is probably not the best second row of seats that you’ll find here, but it’s bloody good. Now from behind the steering wheel, one thing that I can tell you with a lot of confidence is that the new suspension setup with frequency dependent damping or FSD in some other manufacturers terminology has done this car a lot of good. The ride quality is stellar. It rides over bad surfaces like a pro and even on some really broken patches. We really did not feel that the new Harrier EV got ruffled at all. So if ride quality and comfort for your family is something that you’re looking for, then this car is really a massive massive upgrade. Also, the fact that the center of gravity is a lot lower helps. And we have managed to find this abandoned area on the Mumbai Delhi highway which has allowed us to assess the dynamic ability of this car also to a fair degree. And what I can tell you is that the dynamic ability of the Harrier EV is definitely definitely superior as compared to the ICE version of the car. The body roll is far better controlled. It feels a lot tautter and while there is some body roll there has to be because it is in the end a big SUV meant for comfort but it feels a lot more manageable. It carries a lot more speed around the bends and the steering also feels a lot truer than before. So in that sense I really think if you compare it with the experience that you probably had with the heavier Ice it is a significant upgrade. Now having said that there still is a reasonable amount of body roll. This is a big car and if you compare it with something which is lighter, smaller, sharper, there is a difference. The tires, they hold well, and the fact that we are driving the all-wheel drive version really helps. Right now, we are driving in the wet and I’m pretty sure that if we did not have the all-wheel drive system here, we would have been able to slide this car very easily. But thanks to the traction at all four wheels, this car is showing phenomenal control and is rather difficult to displace on the wet. such a heavy car would have just slithered all around, but it is not leaving its grip on the road. Now, of course, if you give it all the beans and if you really want to put it into a slide, it won’t be entirely impossible. However, for the kind of weight that this car is carrying and the fact that it is wet, the grip from the tires, which are supposed to be low rolling resistance is reasonably impressive. I’m not saying that I cannot slide them. I can if I start acting stupid. I just did. But you really have to be an idiot to shake this car off its line. And what I’m trying to come to is that the handling of this car, especially the all-wheel drive variant, has improved drastically. Now, that’s one. So, the ride quality, the handling, and the steering feedback is a marked departure from what we found in the ice variant. Also, the power output is significantly better now. So you get two variants. On one variant you have 65 kWh of battery. However, if you’re going with the rearw wheel drive variant only, which is available with both 65 kW and 75 kW, you’ll get the same power output. So the power output for the rear wheel drive version of this car is 238 PS of power and 315 Newton meters of torque. However, this car which is the top-of-the-line variant, the all-wheel drive or the quadwheel drive empowered variant. There you’ll get two motors and the rear motor again will produce 238 PS but will be assisted by another motor up front which will produce 158 PS of additional power and the combined torque of two motors will also be a lot more which is 54 Newton meters. So, this car can do its 0 to 100 in just 6.3 seconds. And let’s start from a standstill and see how this car does that. And let’s just give the Tata Harrier Eevee the beans. Whoa. And just like that, we are through to 100. That really was quick. And you know what? It doesn’t handle badly either for a car this heavy and big. Now the one thing that Tata have been talking about this car is that they have tuned this ADAS system for India and that it’s very sensitive and works rather well and we got a taste of this in probably the worst conditions possible. It’s raining cats and dogs. I have put this on adaptive cruise control. Thankfully, this is an expressway and it is reading the lines perfectly, keeping the lane beautifully well. The speed set is 70 km/h. It’s detecting that there’s a truck ahead and I really can rely on this system to a large extent. So the tuning of ADAS is very good. So that really is a true claim. Now apart from that, another great thing about this car is that the turning radius is not as much as you would think it is for such a big car. So it’s reasonably easy to maneuver within the city also. And even in not so wide lanes, you’ll be able to turn it around. It’s not like a monster with a turning radius of about 5.5 m. It is reasonably manageable. This variant that we have here is the 75 kW all-wheel drive variant. And the range claimed by ARI is over 650 km. But I think in the real world, if you drive it reasonably in the eco or city mode, you should be able to get 450 to 500 km. I mean, if you really push it to the limit. If you want uh to drive it only up to 80% of its maximum possible charge, you should be able to get about 350 km of range, which is not bad at all. But what really is impressive is that this car is very comfortable. It’s very reassuring and it’s rapid yet it’s very very comfortable. It’s loaded to the brim with technology and Tata this time really have outdone themselves. It really is a very practical, very sorted kind of a product and with its generous range, it’s really thrilling power, sorted dynamics, it comes across as a very practical car, which is reasonably fun as well. On the downside, I really think that the wind noise could have been cut a little bit better above 80 km/h. The wind noise starts filtering in a little bit. Although the ambient noise is reasonably well cut, it could probably have been a little bit more enthusiast friendly, but I do understand that it’s a very heavy car. But generally speaking, it is a really impressive effort by Tata. And whichever way you look at it, it comes across as very practical, well priced, very well-rounded product, which I really think is going to do Tata a lot of good in terms of its sales numbers. Just to give you some context, uh right now the range is 215 km, which is the maximum power boost mode. If I put it in eco mode, it increases to 251 km. If I go to sport mode, it goes to 227. And again, when I put it into boost mode, it goes down to 215. Now, you also have these paddle shifters here for region modes. And you have four region modes in all. So, you can either completely turn it off by going down using the left paddle shifter. And right now, it’s off, or you can use the right pedal shifter, L1, L2, and L3. And in the highest region mode, the braking is really strong. Overall, I quite like this car. The range is good. It feels very comfortable, very practical for a family of five. And like I mentioned, Tata have outdone themselves. A few negatives, if I really have to point out, are that the panel gaps could have been even more consistent. They are still slightly inconsistent in places. The dashboard still somewhat fouls with the knee. This problem could probably have been solved. I would have liked a third headrest for the third passenger. But overall, it’s a very well-rounded product and it’s loaded to the brim with technology. It is very comfortable, very, very practical and as a practical car, I really don’t have any problems with this specific product. Now, Harrier Electric in its latest avatar also gets all-wheel drive. So, it basically gets two motors and while the front motor is not as powerful as the rear motor, it does get all-wheel drive. So this car will typically be a rear wheel drive and whenever the system requires more traction it’ll start transferring power to the front wheels as well. Now the motors are individual up front and at the rear and the individual wheels are allowed or stopped from turning with the electronic stability program or traction control. So if a wheel doesn’t have traction, the system applies brakes on individual wheels and that’s how it manages the traction. It doesn’t really have a proper locking diff, so it’s not a hardcore off-roader, but it does have some really good capabilities. It can wade through water at 600 mm. And as demonstrated in these images right now, it can do a fair bit of off-roading. So, if you want a car that can do softroading for you, can take you out of tricky places, uh, in places where you don’t have enough traction, this car is good enough. Although it’s not a hardcore off-roader like say the Jeep Wrangler or say even the Tar Rocks as those cars come with a diff lock but it does have decent capabilities and we were quite amazed at what the Harrier could do at the test track that Tata had made. To give a definitive verdict, we’ll really have to take this car out for a hardcore off-road test. But from what we can see, it is a fairly capable unit and good enough for softroing. So that’s that guys for those of you who are interested in buying this car. I hope I have managed to answer most if not all of your questions. Still, if you have any further questions, you can put them down in the comment section. I’ll try to answer them personally or one of my team members will answer your questions. In terms of pricing, this car is priced from 21.5 lakh rupees for the base variant and goes all the way up to 30.25 lakh rupees for this top-of-the-line QWD variant. It is competitively priced if you compare it with its closest competitor which is the XCV90. I think uh this offers slightly more value in the fact that this comes with an all-wheel drive system.
