Review | TST Carrier 20 Electric Bike

[Music] hey guys welcome back to Random Adventures today I want to give you guys a look at this TST Carrier 20 ebike this is a cargo carrying ebike it does come with a real long tail and it has a rack in the rear the rack can be set up in different ways and I will show you those different methods the battery on this bike is mounted in the frame here and it is a 48vt 15 amp hour battery the bike is powered by a peak 1300 watt motor in the rear it’s supposed to give you up to 90 new meters of torque the bike comes with 20×4 inch X chowyang tires on spoke wheels here’s a look at your crank set it does come with a dual-sided chain guard it does have long crank arms that’s going to give you some extra torque the bike does come with metal Nico branded pedals back here in the rear you do get your seven-speed Shimano Turn derailure system the bike does come with a mid-mounted kickstand that picks up the whole bike uh this allows you to leave the bike standing while you’re loading the cargo and stuff like that you don’t have to worry about the bike falling over as you see they did use a little chain redirect right here to clear the kickstand this is the white colored TST carrier 20 but it does come in black color also I like the white color myself you do get some frame mounted foot rails right here these could also double as a way to strap down any cargo that you’re carrying in the basket here currently I’ve got the bike set up in the child carrier configuration that means I installed the padded seat right here for somebody to sit on it also has these safety padded frame rails up front front the bike does come with a dual crown fork suspension there is no adjustments on it and you do get a small headlight here it is small but it is powerful this bike does come with Cororide brakes and large 180 mm disc rotors i’ve used these brakes on other bikes before and they work quite well you get the same Corride brakes in the rear with the 180 mm rotor here’s a look at your TST wheel branded seat does have a lot of padding this bike is very flexible on size because the seat can go quite low and also it has a really long seat post so it can go quite high the website says that a rider of 5’1 up to 6’4 can fit on this bike and I totally believe that here’s a look at your Cororide hydraulic brake levers these brake levers have a nice shape and they do feel good in your hand this bike does come with a thumb throttle mounted on the left side pretty simple control panel you get battery life miles per hour and your pedal assist level the bike does come with five levels of pedal assist out of the box you can change it to read miles per hour or kilometers/ hour over on the right side you get your Shimano derailure shifter this is actually the rapid fire style see how fast you can click through those the handlebars on this bike are kind of an open BMX style design but they don’t have the railing across here the bike ships out with the Nico branded headset this bike ships out with a top speed of 20 mph but I was able to get in here and unlock it i will put that on the screen the method of how to unlock this is pretty simple just to quickly sum it up you get to the P3 setting and you change it from a zero to a one the bike is unlocked now to 28 mph but getting up to 28 m per hour is going to be dependent on the weight load of the bike [Music] since this is a cargo ebike let’s throw a box in the back you could put a big long box in there like that you’re just going to have to strap it down somehow you could load this bike up with a whole bunch of boxes like this if you needed to just make sure you get some straps and strap them down so they don’t fall out you could strap it all the way down to the railing down here this bike has a total weight capacity of 450 lbs that’s for a 300lb rider and 150 lbs of cargo back here in the rear so you can get 150 lb of stuff in here all right guys let me give you a look at this rear bike rack because this can be set up in four different configurations i’m going to go through and show you all four of these the first one is this one right here this wooden piece can be left on and you can ride just like this the second configuration is where you’ll install this padded seat you would remove the wood install the padded seat right there so you could ride with it with just the padded seat the third configuration would be if you install the child seat you would actually remove the wooden piece put the child seat down and then put the wooden piece back down and then the fourth configuration would be the child seat basket with the padded seat so you can install the child seat basket with the padded seat or you can install it with the wooden seat your choice all right guys let’s go take this thing out for a ride all right guys we’re out on the TST bike carrier 20 i’m going to go through and show you the pedal assist levels this is pedal assist level one 7 mph let’s bump it up to pedal assist level two looks like pedal assist level two levels you off at about 10 miles per hour we’re going to have to gear up all right let’s get up to pedal assist level three [Music] gives you a nice comfortable 15 mph on pedal assist level three when we get back up here on top to the level ground we’ll do pedal assist level four and five this bike was locked to 20 mph out of the box pretty typical and uh I went ahead and unlocked it to where it could go 28 mph i do weigh 215 lbs so I’d be surprised if this thing can get me up to 28 mph but we will see what it can do this is pedal assist level four didn’t really give us much of a power bump up from pedal assist level three it’s got us rolling at 16 mph i am in top seventh gear and it’s a pretty nice pedal cadence on pedal assist level four no problem at all you can keep up pedaling at this speed when I get up here a little farther I’ll flip it around and we’ll see what our top speed is all right guys i bumped it up to pedal assist level five let’s just go ahead and do a little acceleration run while we’re at it here 0 to 20 we’ll see what it does using the throttle only and then we’re going to continue on to the radar gun putting in some pedaling and see what our top speed is all right no pedaling at first acceleration run throttle only hey that’s not bad it’s not bad at all there’s 20 all right now I’m going to get some pedaling in here and we’ll see what our top speed is [Music] 215 lb rider on the TST Carrier 20 electric bike [Music] all right it was uh showing me 25 miles an hour it was showing me 26 on the onboard 25 on the radar gun we’ll go back and run it back one more time using the throttle only see if it’ll do that same speed without the pedaling input all right throttle only i might get a little aerodynamic and see what we can get out of this bike [Music] showing 26 on the radar gun all right guys got it up to 26 on the radar gun [Music] and uh onboard was showing 26 at time also not bad when you give it a little tuck this bike is absolutely not meant to be an absolute speed demon uh but that’s pretty fast that’ll definitely get you where you want to go this thing gets you moving when you’re riding on a uh a cart path like this going over 20 mph feels pretty fast a lot of the speed limits are 20 on these golf cart pass anyhow that’s the uh the legal limit woohoo we got ripping around that corner there i wasn’t ready for it so uh the basket that’s on the back of the bike right now it’s actually set up a little bit more to be a child carrier let some kids or a dog ride in the back or something like that it doesn’t really have uh sides to keep your cargo in but I do believe you could get a couple egg crates or you find the right size basket or something to fit right in there and you’ll be able to put put a bunch of stuff in those baskets and you won’t be worried about losing it off the side if you’re carrying bigger cargo boxes stuff like that you can use some straps to strap your cargo down but uh little things try to put little things in there you’re going to want to put a box inside maybe a cardboard box or some crates or something to hold hold some small cargo while you’re riding let’s check out this front suspension you know what this thing is pretty soft on the front it totally took that bump oh yeah you this is a real soft suspension in the front you guys are gonna like that see that bounce it’s a hard tail in the rear and it does not have a suspension seat post so if you buy this bike you might want to just go over and put your suspension seat post in the shopping cart while you’re at it and then with that real soft suspension up front and a suspension seat post this thing’s going to be like riding on a cloud it’s got a nice cushy it does come with a nice cushy seat all right this bike has the 180 mm Coride brakes let’s get up to 20 here well 19 and I don’t even want to lock them up because uh yeah it’s a little loud let’s try it again uh obviously you heard back there that you can easily lock these tires up so let’s try it again here from from 20 yeah you can you can totally uh lock the tires up drag the tires so that’s actually not ideal of course your best stopping power is going to be right before you lock them up so but this bike having 180 mm brakes it’s got some great stopping power these are hydraulic brakes these are the Cororide hydraulic brakes i’ve ridden these on a couple other bikes and I do like these brakes they have a nice quiet sound to them you get that little unique breaking sound from them and they work really well this thing rides pretty good over the bumps for being a hard tail thanks to the big old 20×4 in fat tires look at this we got the the Grand Canyon wash out here hey man this thing sink can handle the bumps decently well it seems like they might have moved the horses into a different area for now cuz two or three fields I went by I I didn’t see the horses out in any of the fields so they might have took them somewhere i love riding down this part of the road it’s unique you know you got so many trees on either side it always feels a little bit cooler down here i think it’s like totally shaded let’s do a little off-roading over here i’m sure this grass is nice and wet it’s always pretty swampy over here i don’t know who’s going to do off-roading on a cargo carrier bike but let’s give it a try anyhow piece of cake man this thing’s riding real nice out here actually this bike not might not have a lot of top speed but it does have real good torque it’s got that low-end grunt i think it was 90 Newton meters of torque feels surprisingly good out here actually in the grass heck yeah woohoo chase some of these birds [Music] this thing almost feels like it moves better off road than it does onroad that’s pretty surprising goodness gracious [Music] all right guys we’re rolling back into my area we took the bike to town and back let’s see how many miles we’ve put on it so far looks like we’ve done 12 miles on this trip and we’re still showing three bars of battery life left so if I had to make a estimated guess this thing is going to get at least 25 30 mi of range if you need a cargo bike this thing can definitely get the job done it’s not no fire breathing demon of a bike or anything like that it’s a little bit mild on the power but it does go 26 mph when you need it to uh with a 200lb rider 215 lb rider it’s a good looking bike it’s pretty smooth it’s got great brakes it does have a real soft front suspension which I do like you can ride with your kids in the back you could ride with your dog in the back you could use it for business Uber Eats some other type of carrying business door dash whatever so uh yeah I will put the link to
