The Prius. I was a mechanic, and I’ve heard all the horror stories about how the toyota prius threatens the sanctity of biblical marriage and supports the radical communist left with its overly complex and impossibly expensive electric motor and a battery that WILL kill you, and I just don’t see it. They’re fine. Great even. And goddammit they’re just so iconic.

The problem Is not the car, It’s the brand. This kind of cars are for opel, Volkswagen, fiat, Chevy… Not BMW, not Mercedes (class A), not Audi (that shitty back designed car), alfa romeo (Milano)… The car Is Just the representation of the good quality that the brand had throw away, It’s like Kanye west making a mainstream Song, completely non-sense shit.

The PT Cruiser. It’s genuinely a good car, it does everything a car has to do, it drives good. And it was ahead of its time with a higher seat.
Even though the design has aged poorly, I still love the PT Cruiser

The BMW Picanto was an alright car from what I hear

The BMW i3 was indeed too expensive for its range and market sector…but it was also the most over engineered city car ever built. Moreover, despite being severely down on range compared to the Chevy Bolt, the i3 was otherwise the better engineered car due to its CFRP passenger cell and rear mounted electric motor (the Bolt suffers from FF torque steer and its severe).

Mk2 Lancia Delta. Everyone remembers the hf, the s4, the deltone, the rally heritage, then the mk2 comes out and it’s a fine, normal car, like the 145/146 and bravo/brava were. Nothing awesome, but most were junked even if in decentish state. The hf was decent, but no awd and no more rally? Sacrilege. Yet no one remembers that the mk1 delta was a modified ritmo and therefore the HF literally cracked the a pillars due to the chassis bending.

The i3 has like a 60 mile range on a full charge. Its not good

I will say this with a caveat: it has the reputation it does because of the consumers of the product, not because of the product itself.
Jeep Wranglers since the ass end of the TJs and onward have been completely shifted in primary use to grocery getters. Everyone complains about how they don’t hold up in comparison to other road going vehicles while missing the point that it’s primary intention is as a toy first and a daily driver second. No shit it’s not gonna compare on the road to something meant to be an economical grocery getter.

The whole RX7 line of cars got such a poor reputation because they’re mistreated and poorly maintained. This is partially Mazdas fault for not making it more obvious, but following its just pure ignorance on the part of the owners or critics. The 12a and 13b are obviously not typical 4 stroke piston motors. They should not be treated like they are. When you maintain and drive a rotary like a rotary, they’re perfectly reasonable cars to drive. Premix (Mazdas fault for trying injection), let them warm up properly, rev the piss out of them once in a while, and you’ll have a great car.

2003-08ish Jaguar models. Actually anything 1990 onwards wasn’t half as unreliable as the reputation might suggest.

The BMW i3 is the best and most innovative car BMW has put their brand name on in the last twenty years.
It was an inexpensive but classy EV (with or without a “range extender” ICE) before there was much on the market and which hasn’t really been replaced by anything nearly as nice (in the US market at least).

The i3 is just an example of how slow trad oems were on evs. Lots of complex engineering work and the model 3 goes on sale 4 years later as a full ev for less money. BMW was so caught up on the quirky and the model 3 ends up outselling the regular 3 series.

Nothing wrong with it. Easy to work on, nice features, and the 4.3 with 4×4 is so nice for when I go hunting.
So unfortunate that people just hate the badge that’s on the front of it.
