What’s a car you wish was more reliable or didn’t have a fatal flaw?

Most hyundais and kias because they don’t look too bad but they shit themselves way too early

All Land Rovers. They look so cool and have always left me stranded when something super dumb breaks.

FD Mazda RX-7, great looking cars, great performance/handling….but they have engines that shit themselves at 70k and electrical systems that are more British than Japanese in terms of quality

Not current, but a reliable Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas would be great

The new yorker/imperial/dynasty of the late 80s-mid 90s. Thry were comfortable sofas and the chrysler v6 was solid but the overdrive transmissions generally killed them.

  6. Subaru. I’ve loved owning them over the years but when things go bad they go really bad.

    Better build quality on Wranglers.

If I could have my 2012 Nissan Versa SV back, I’d do it in a heartbeat. I was strict on maintenance and the fatal CVT flaw struck me at around 161k. I took the car on 10+ hour road trips monthly and it just did me right til it did me wrong. 😭😭😭

Anything with the 3800 Series II. They could have done without the Dex-Cool. Barring that, the intake plenum needed to be more resilient.

Ecoboost fiesta I wish fords were good

Lexus IS series. Awesome touring cars with an absolutely AWFUL infotainment pre-2021. Bad enough to warrant skipping an IS in those years.

  12. Subaru SVX and its 4-speed automatic transmission.

996s and 986s but maybr they wouldn’t be as cheap

That is such a good looking car it’s aged like wine

  15. 6.0/6.4 so I could buy a cheap diesel tow rig and know it will stay CHEAP!

  16. Fellatination

The early -mid 2000’s AWD Caravan, Voyager, etc.

If the transmissions weren’t hot garbage you’d see way more of these on the road still.

Audi S4 with the 4.2 V8. Funny how cheap they are as they come up on 100,000 miles, it’s like god trying to get me to make a mistake

  18. Attainable dream car (Nissan 300ZX Z32 TT). Wish the engine was better to work on.

Jeep Cherokee XJs. Motors are bulletproof. Electrical system…not so much

  20. My Fiat 500 Abarth. Blew an exhaust valve last summer. Still an enjoyable demented car!

BMW 550i. I absolutely adore them. The engine is amazing, when it’s not killing itself left and right.

    jeep patriot and renegade.

Renegade is looks completely different than the rest of their lineup and the patriot rocks the jeep grill better than the wrangler imo

A Dodge Dart. I’d totally drive a manual 2.4l all day if it wasn’t such a garbage bin. It’s a handsome car with my preferred proportions. Absolute shame that it’s unreliable.

  24. I’m old enough to remember when this was the ugly BMW

  25. Wageslave645

The Volkswagen New Beetle – If it wasn’t for the weak 01m transmission and the VW build quality, they are the perfect runabout car.

  26. BMW 335d. Diesel is expensive now, but even so, I love the idea of an i6 turbo diesel in a RWD sedan. Unfortunately most of them need more on maintenance than what you pay for them.
