Honestly, garbage trucks should’ve been one of the first heavy vehicles to be electrified. The ones that operate in cities don’t go fast or very far, so even the battery tech from 9 or 10 years ago would suffice.

Welcome to 5 years ago. I have a friend who works at a company that has been building electric garbage trucks for a few years now.

The Rivian EV Amazon vans drive around my neighborhood and I always ask the drivers what they think …they all love those EV vans.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve been waken up by loud garbage trucks, finally.

Not exactly a surprise that an incumbent european company would see some of the best advancements in EV trucks, but garbage trucks specifically are probably one of the best use cases.
Lots of start stop, early morning starts/driving (when quietness is appreciated), and the best opportunity for exposure since they stop in front of every house each week. Get EV garbage trucks out there, and *everyone* will know you make an EV truck.
The only problem now is ~~using a phone reminder~~ not hearing the truck early enough to get the bins out

They’ll have to add an artificial insanely loud brake squeal.

I can smell them, though. Are they able to do anything about that?
