  1. >Two sources told *Electrek* that Tinucci was fighting back pressure from Musk to fire a bigger percentage of her team, and the CEO decided to let go of the entire team as an example.

I thought this article had a lot of insights. It’s just crazy to me the man is a part-time absentee CEO and currently asking shareholders vote to give him $53B.

He’s using all his great lessons learned from Twitter to take a successful company and ruin it.

Time for him to move on and just work at X. Just leave Tesla already.

I keep hoping the Board fires Elon and brings in someone with an actual vision of how to improve future growth. A CEO who divides himself up over too many companies, wastes tons of money on distraction projects, kills the parts of manufacturing that were going to reduce costs, and wants to alienate the part of the population who want EVs needs to go do something else.

IMO the biggest news is this:

    > Two sources told Electrek that Tinucci was fighting back pressure from Musk to fire a bigger percentage of her team, and the CEO decided to let go of the entire team as an example.

    >Musk wrote in an email to executives on Sunday:
“Hopefully, these actions are making it clear that we need to be absolutely hard-core about headcount and cost reduction. While some on exec staff are taking this seriously, most are not yet doing so.”

    >The message is clear: fire people as many people as I’m asking, or you and your entire team will be gone.

If Elon chopped the entire department—including by most accounts, a highly competent leader—just to make a point…well that would really be the stupidest possible version of events.

This whole thing is a train wreck and we’re watching it unfold in slow motion. What a time to be part of the EV community.

After reading Elons book I can understand many things he does. This one is a bit confusing.

There’s a chance he was facing a mutiny and this is a mega power play.

  9. He’s a nut and a white nationalist to boot. Grew up in apartheid South Africa 🇿🇦 so no big surprise

Elon is definitely an ass as well as many other things.

But the amount of misinformation in this comment section that could be fixed with one google search is extremely sad

If the guy fired the whole team leading the one thing that Tesla had over everyone else…. I don’t have much to say.

Here’s hoping it’s just exaggerated news for the company’s and its employees’ sakes

This has got to be bad in the long run for Tesla as well as EV sales in general in the US. People see a madman dismantling a company team by team raises a lot of doubts about spending a large amount of money on their product. And since the industry leader Tesla appears to be in panic mode it will have a ripple effect across all EV’s.

    > Now, Electrek has learned that Musk also gutted Tesla’s cathode material manufacturing team in Texas.

    > It started with Anthony Thurston, Senior Manager, Cathode Materials & Manufacturing at Tesla, earlier this month, but Electrek has learned that Musk has now let go of most of the team.

Who needs cathodes anyway? Everybody knows that anodes are way better.

  14. When Elon is actively running Tesla, the stock goes up.. value is created. This is historical fact. Hate him all you want, but his contribution is undeniable.

Musk is highly impulsive and is more full of himself each day. Now that he’s thrown the EV charging profile of the US into question, he’ll find out that major auto companies who signed a contract to move to NACS included clauses about Tesla’s obligation to complete certain tasks. Whether system integration, network expansion, etc., lawyers can get very expensive and lawsuits can have unpleasant ramifications.

Prediction: Musk will have to back down from parts of his overly brash decision, to meet his contractual obligations re. the NACS conversion. Those companies and others will better understand the hazards of working with an impulsive megalomaniac.

Electrify American should hire Rebecca Tinucci.

  17. Can we just send Musk to Mars already before he destroys another company?
