Tesla’s 2024 Competition Is Scary | Best NEW EVs For 2024

Tesla’s 2024 Competition Is Scary | Best NEW EVs For 2024

The Tesla Model y may be the bestselling eeve in the world now but new competitors are making the news each day some have been unveiled and others are entering production in 2024 today we’re going to look into the latest EVS coming to Market from the most affordable to

The most luxury so let’s get into it because Tesla has had such a huge lead in the EV industry let’s do a quick overview of their current options most EV makers know that Tesla really is the company to beat and they set the bar for these new competitors Tesla’s most

Popular vehicles are the model 3 and Y selling way more than the model S and X they’re most affordable the rear wheel drive model 3 currently starts around $39,000 before incentives that car gets a 272 M EPA range and 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds then the long range model 3 is

Around $46,000 Gets A 333 M EPA range and 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds up from there is the performance model starting around $51,000 Tesla’s most popular car the model Y is is a crossover SUV starting around $44,000 with 260 M of range in a

0 to 60 in 6.6 seconds then the long range starts around $49,000 with a 330 M EPA range and 4.8 second 0 to 60 this one’s performance model starts around $52,500 in the luxury sector the model S now starts at $75,000 for the dual motor

All-wheel drive with 45 M range and 0 to 60 in 3.1 seconds then the Plaid now starts at 90,000 with its record breaking 0 to 60 in 2 seconds that last one gets 396 M of range lastly the model x dual motor all-wheel drive is around $80,000 for

348 M of range and a 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds then for $15,000 more The Plaid takes that 0 to 60 down to 2.5 seconds sacrificing about 15 mil of range Tesla has also recently started delivering the Cyber Truck starting with the foundation series that truck will run you about $

100,000 or $120,000 if you were able to get your order in early back in 2019 then they should be following that with more affordable trims throughout 2024 and 25 what gives all these cars such an advantage save the cybertruck is that they’re truly available to buy today for

A long time Tesla was the only company that could say that but that is starting to change Tesla’s other main advantage their supercharger network is also about to change this is the largest fast charging Network in the US and starting next year most EV makers in the US are

Partnering with Tesla to be able to access those Chargers that’ll be great news for other automakers as it’ll suddenly become a lot easier to fast charge your non- Tesla EV so now let’s get into the new cars coming out to start off with the Aila is a collaboration between Honda and Sony

That was officially debuted in Japan in October what sets this one apart is that they aim for its main screen to function as well as a smartphone that means users will be able to download apps and its creators are encouraging the development of apps and software by external

Developers it’ll come with 5G downloads as well as level three automated driving under Limited conditions level two automated driving will be more widely available similar to a Tesla they haven’t announced range or Price yet but it’s going to be competing with the model 3 Sony and Honda have said the

Development of this car has entered its final stages and that online orders will begin in 2025 deliveries will then start in North America in Spring of 2026 followed by Japan later in the same year pstar is soon to release a new electric SUV coupe the postar 4 it’ll have the

Aerodynamics of a coupe with the space of an SUV and its rear window will be replaced with a rear facing HD camera pstar says that this provides a wider field of vision in addition to that will be Google integration including assistant maps and home interior is a

Choice of vinyl Napa leather or a knit textile made from a cycled plastic the long range single motor version has a target of over 300 M EPA meaning each trim above that will likely see a reduction launch pricing is expected to start at $60,000 and go up from there

Depending on the trim as for the timeline postar has said it will arrive later in 2024 which could ultimately push this car into a 2025 release the exciting thing though is that this car comes from a company actually making EVS in large quantities so we should see it

Soon enough Kia brought two new Concepts to the LA Auto Show the EV3 and ev4 the EV3 takes design inspiration from the ev9 SUV and has a boxy soul-like design the ev4 looks more like their ev6 both the EV3 and 4 have cabins styled in sci-fi minimal ISM with a Tesla

Cybertruck looking steering wheel at least in the prototypes then the Interiors are finished with sustainable bioplastics natural dieses and recycled cotton they haven’t announced the range or price for either of these vehicles but the EV3 is supposed to take on the model Y and the ev4 is supposed to take

On the model 3 Hyundai is working on releasing an n-class ionic 5 getting a 0 to 60 in 3.25 seconds that one is expected to start deliveries to us dealers next march reportedly though they’re already working on an even higher performance perance ionic 6n that one will bring a Sleek aerodynamic

Design wheel air curtains a rear spoiler and a huge rear diffuser to enhance its aerodynamics again they have an announced price or range but we expect it to be well over the price of the standard ev6 which today starts around $38,600 then the range will likely be

Comparable to that of a longer range ev6 this one is expected to hit showrooms by 2025 so we could see it on the road by 2026 Lucid is getting ready to release their first SUV the 7 Cedar Lucid gravity this essentially Builds on the Lucid air with a similar Market but

Brings a large luxurious SUV with it it will feature over 800 horsepower a 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds 3 120 volt outlets and six USBC ports and then a 34in floating 6K display up front that serves as a gauge cluster in addition to the center

Display around the cabin will be a 22 speaker sound system designed in collaboration with Dolby Atmos and of course it will have active safety features like Lucid is shipped on the Lucid air Lucid is well known for their long ranges and efficiency and they plan to deliver that once again with the

Gravity promising a range over 440 miles of course that comes at a cost and This SUV is expected to start around $80,000 and go up to $250,000 depending on the trim and options Lucid plans for this SUV to be on sale before the end of 2024 byd one of Tesla’s biggest competitors worldwide

Debuted another extremely affordable EV at the LA Auto Show the oneup EV it likely w won’t be available in the US anytime soon though the original wand design was released in China in 2016 but this one will be the smallest and likely cheapest EV from its onean series

Smaller than the Kia ev5 the range will likely be less than the 320 or 401 km cltc range for the onean pro and pricing hasn’t been announced but it’s expected to start under $14,000 this is definitely a specific affordable EV and will be a big competitor for Tesla over in China if it

Comes when expected in 2024 another vehicle coming from byd is the seal this is a rival to the model 3 and will surely contribute to byd overtaking test the globally in EV sales what’s different with the seal is that it’s being introduced in North America in Mexico specifically this is their second

EV to launch in Mexico after the dolphin launched in September the rear bu Drive will start around $44,500 and all-wheel drive around $51,000 the top range will be around 323 Mi wltp which converts to about 28 88 M EPA and deliveries are underway in Mexico already long term this could be a

Rival to the model 3 in other markets but we’ll have to see how it all expands the Chevy Blazer EV just recently started deliveries to dealerships and it will eventually start at $51,100 for the LT spec right now only higher specs are available though so it’s going to be north of

$567 15 for an all-wheel drive LT we also have to keep in mind that these are dealership prices and they could get marked up especially with such a new vehicle once you do get one though it comes with a Google based UI and 324 M of range in the rear wheel drive

Configuration all-wheel drive will take that down to 279 mil it also introduces quote my mode allowing owners to customize throttle response steering Feld and regenerative braking characteristics as well as turn on a fake motor sound that gets piped through the car’s speakers according to Electric though it’s not meant to deliver

Excellent performance it’s a very smooth ride and handles well Acura has opened up reservations for its upcoming ZDX SUV and they’re adding some special perks for those who buy early Acura is the luxury subdivision of Honda who has been very late to the party in introducing an

EV to the market as such this is acura’s first EV option it will be available in both a single and dual motor variant starting around $60,000 and $70,000 respectively they will be selling an S-Type performance trim that can clock up to 500 horsepower and will come with an exclusive double Apex Blue Pearl

Exterior paint depending on the configuration this should deliver around 289 to 325 M of range and deliveries are coming up in early 2024 Scout of VW brand will be debuting an electric pickup and SUV soon and it’s in a specific segment that many are excited for they’re planning for a large B SUV

And a full-sized pickup but at this point we don’t really have that much information these are aimed to compete with rivian’s offerings the r1s and r1t and those Vehicles offer ranges between 260 and 410 Mi depending on the trim if they aim their cars around rivan Market

That will have the SUV starting around $78,000 and the truck around $73,000 the Porsche maon EV is on its way fairly soon and this will be the first vehicle to use Porsche and Audi’s co-developed premium platform electric platform it’s supposed to have a great charging system provide up to 310 M of

Range wltp which is around 275 M EPA and support 400 volt charging it’s still in the early stages here but this should be a solid EV option from a very popular company over at at Nissan they have announced that the skyline is going to be reborn as an electric Fastback in

Addition to an SUV the skyline SUV will be based on the Arya and they say it will debut in 2025 early specs say it will get over 450 horsepower and then it will be sold under their Infinity brand those are still early Concepts but one car that should truly be coming soon is

The Honda prologue this car is long overdue from a brand that many love Honda has yet to introduce a true EV in the US and this of course will come in the popular mid size SUV shape it will get an estimated 300 M of range come in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive

Powertrains and include a decent amount of cargo space unfortunately it will not have a front trunk though it has an 85 KW hour battery pack and supports 155 KW Max charging speeds which at this point isn’t too competitive though there’s a lot to the interior but overall it seems

To be a pretty Classic Honda design with some added EV features pricing is expected to start between $45 and $50,000 and then they plan to start deliveries in in early 2024 but what about cars on the affordable side of things we’re seeing Brands enter into the market with their model y

Competitors but for many buyers that’s not exciting because it’s still too expensive the good news is that while it will take some time companies do have plans for Affordable Electric models VW has teased their id2 all electric this is their smallest car and it’s slated to

Sit below the id4 and id5 so far this is a concept but it features 279 M of range and will start under 27 ,000 when this is quoted it will likely actually just mean $26,995 the interior has a 12.9 in touchscreen new menus and other features

And VW plans to launch it by 2026 that car looks exciting and small EVS will be great to see but VW is also planning an SUV version of this car the id2 all SUV they say This SUV version will arrive in 2026 not much has been shared but it is

Expected to have two battery options and start around $32,000 both of these designs feature a software approach but VW has failed a bit there in recent cars so they may end up changing that approach recently Chevy discontinued the bolt their affordable EV and one of the only affordable EVS

Available in the US but they have announced that it is coming back they plan to relaunch this car on their ultium platform in 2025 but this time it will only come in the slightly larger bolt euv form factor currently that car gets a range of 247 Mi and starts as low as $277,800

So we expect to see those specs at least maintained and likely a price increase to a degree coming before the Chevy bolt seemingly will be the Chevy Equinox The Equinox is set to begin production in the first quarter of 2024 at their facility in Mexico this will be the

Second electric SUV built there after the Blazer EV we talked about earlier according to GM this car will get up to a 319 mile range and it will start at about $35,000 for the spec with that range if they can deliver that and truly scale it profitably it would be a great

Option that takes on the standard Range model Y in a big way GM has seen their fair share of delays lately so this likely could be a long scaling process but I’m hoping for the best Fiat is set to release a fully electric Panda starting around $25,000 for now unfortunately this car

Won’t be making it to the US but the Fiat 500e is supposed to come back for a 2024 model year this should start around $ 34,958 M of range and include an updated interior with a large touchcreen a small EV like this is exciting to see but

Judging off of the starting price of a model 3 today with nearly double the range it may be a tough sell hopefully when released this can bring some better charging speeds and a better range but we’ll have to see one exciting more affordable EV we should see in the US

And Canada in 2024 is the Volvo ex30 this is Volvo’s smallest SUV and they quote a range of up to 442 km or about 275 mil and 0 to 60 as low as 3.6 seconds it brings really great specs and advanced technology in a pretty nice package it takes Tech from other Volvo

Cars with a center vertical screen and the big thing is that it’s planned to currently start as low as $35,000 currently however they are starting with more expensive trims and this car looks anything but competitive on launch with the lowest available price at $56,000 hopefully we do see that cheaper

Model come to be in 2024 and hopefully it’s not too much of a sacrifice with its specs Toyota is another company like Honda that has dragged their feet on introducing a true EV and they have unveiled a concept for their Urban electric SUV they say this is close to

Production launching in 2024 has no compromise will have front wheeel and all-wheel drive options and will have two battery options they expect the pricing to rival the ex30 base price around $38,000 but as of right now they only plan to launch it outside of the US Nissan was one of the first e

Manufacturers out there with the leaf and they are now planning to build a Next Generation version of this car this should be coming in 2024 and will come in a crossover SUV shape since the Arya is already out the leaf will feature a design close to this but to start it

Again won’t be coming to the us as for affordable EVS coming to the us though there is the Fisker pair this car has an estimated $330,000 starting price but also depends on the successful launch of the Fisker ocean and Fisker as a whole they plan to launch this in 2025 and it

Will have a 0 to 60 in 6.3 seconds for range the $30,000 version will get 180 Mi while more expensive versions will get up to 320 Mi arguably one of the most exciting affordable EVS though is the one Tesla has plans for in the past they have referred to this as the

$25,000 EV and their current plan is to initially make this in Texas then in Mexico and Berlin the reason this car hasn’t been announced officially is because Tesla doesn’t want to rush things they don’t want a repeat of what they did with the Cyber truck announcing it 4 years before its launch and

Delivering it with some specs less than announced in price pricing much higher this car is also dependent on a number of things and some of it is likely the technology they’re proving out with a cyber Tru the other thing is that Tesla is going to completely change how they

Build cars with this car it has to be made affordable in order to be sold affordable and Tesla understands this better than anyone Elon Musk recently called their manufacturing process here revolutionary and Tesla detailed a lot of this process at their investor day overall it should be a pretty impactful

Vehicle but as of right now we have no images renders specs or anything anything from Tesla when announced it could also come in a bit higher maybe at $30,000 but we’ll see the main specs we’d expect are at 250 M range great efficiency and a reasonable price over

At Mazda they are planning to make seven or eight electric models by 2030 but not much else has been revealed there on the pricier side of things Volvo is planning an electric ex90 three row SUV this will start under $77,000 and go on sale within the US in early 2024 at that

Price it actually qualifies for the US tax credit and will be competing with cars like the rivan r1s higher trims exceed that $80,000 cap though it has a lot of Volvo Tech in it and a centered 14.5 in Center touchcreen as for range the 111 KW battery will get you 300 M of

Range which is great this is quite a different Market than the ex30 but it should prove a competitive option for those that want a three row SUV that’s electric soon there will be the model X Volvo ex90 rivan r1s Scout SUV Lucid gravity and and the Kia ev9 the Kia ev9

Is already out but will be ramping production and deliveries throughout 2024 this three row SUV delivers 304 M of EPA range seats seven adults and supports 350 KW fast charging it can get a 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds and it’s definitely priced to sell the cheapest

Version with a 230 mile range starts at $54,900 but from there you can get a 300 mile range version for under $60,000 which definitely undercuts most options available in this size another car coming in that shape and likely very similar is the Hyundai ionic 7 these

Share the same platform so the ionx 7 is expected to be very similar to the Kia ev9 it is estimated to start around $50,000 get a 300 mile range support 350 KW charging and Concepts show It featuring a very futuristic interior it is guaranteed that the production

Version won’t look like this but they do make for cool Concepts and then the production ionic 7 should be a reasonable three row electric SUV V this segment is exciting to see since typically larger electric SUVs are only available at extremely luxury prices like the Cadillac Escalade IQ of course

These are quite different vehicles but the Escalade IQ is expected in the summer of 2024 it has up to 750 horsepower and they aim for this to have a range of up to 450 mil that means that it will include a gigantic battery pack sharing its platform with the massive

Hummer EV it will start around $100,000 and they say it can gain about 100 m of charge in 10 minutes when charging another electric three row SUV from Cadillac is the visti it will be a 2026 model year and will sit between the lyric and Escalade IQ not much is known

About that car or the optic which could be coming before the visti at around $445,000 last today Mercedes has unveiled their luxurious Maybach eqs SUV this is a pricey one starting at 81,50 and it gets a 0 to 60 and as little as 3.5 seconds range will be

About 2 270 Mi estimated on a 108.4 KW battery pack and it will support 200 KW charging the design of this car though is the real draw the interior has multiple screens the seats are luxury rear seats recline for True comfort and much more it’s a very specific car for a

Very specific Market each day we see new EVS get announced and it’s very exciting the world of electric vehicles is getting very exciting but it’s always important to qualm our expectations a little bit pretty much every company has promised something and then delivered something else or only shipped a few of

Those Vehicles scaling EVS is very challenging so the real excitement comes when we see these cars actually available at reasonable pricing and at scale what is your favorite EV from this Roundup though which car are you most excited to see in the real world leave a comment below to let me know your

Thoughts in the meantime if you want to see all the hidden features the Cyber truck is bringing you can check out that video linked up here or in the description below thanks so much for watching and I’ll see you on the next one
