I cropped this picture, it said that divorce leads children to worst places (2000s tuner scene) and he was absolutely wrong, 2000s tuning scene is amazing!

2000s scene was iconic, ricers spawned outta thin air. it was a fun way to make your hatchback look ‘hip’ and cool. It was the dubstep of 1999. sure now most will agree it looks terrible but the smart folks will realize they’re literally history.

Is that a Suzuki? my kids learned how to drive in a Geo Metro, graduated to a Focus after a year or so it was a great car to learn in. It set the pace for responsible driving around town but it’s to skimpy for highway driving in the US. Still I got a soft spot for them

Hey, Sander777HD. It’s me again. I’m not saying that u shouldn’t post here. What I’m saying is you need to love what you love, and if this Subreddit wants to give you shit cause you have your own opinion, then Fvck em’. There gonna downvote you, the downvote me. cause I like these cars as well.

Also everyone hating on this guy for tuner posts, don’t act like Pimp My Ride wasn’t the shit to you at one point….

You could almost say There was a tuning scene, then there was a “tuner” scene.

The tuning scene was supra, 300zx, vr4 , etc. making 500+ hp and spending all the money on go fast bits.

The tuner scene was fast and furious inspired….more of this car. In the US, every civic and eclipse out there has all these wild cosmetic mods and still made 140hp.

I vividly remember those days because I was a teen. I used to hate on all the body molded franken-cars and under glo and soda can tailpipes. Domestic car guys would even make fun of the new (at the time) GD WRX STIs because of the huge wing it came with. The era before that you would see a lot of cars done up Lowrider style because cruising was still a thing in California up until the mid to late 90s in certain towns.

But now, when I think back to those times, I can’t help but think how creative that was and some of the tuners probably got body shop pointers from guys building Bombs/Lowriders/Kustoms/hotrod. Knowledge that’s passing away as that generation is deep into their 80s and 90s by now.

I used to think it was stupid to see all those takuaches/ single cab truck guys rolling around. But I couldn’t help but notice they where c-notching and body dropping their trucks. Those are custom techniques from the 50s and 60s being implemented in the 21st century.

In the early 2000s I was in love with the austere JDM look (literally swapping all the usdm body panels and moldings over to the Japanese equivalent) but as I got older I’ve developed an appreciation for all custom car builds as long as their done right.
