India’s electric car market sold 36,710 units in October 2026. That is 4% lower than September, but still 84% higher than last year. The festive season did not lift sales the way everyone expected: VinFast fell 22%, Tata slipped 7%, and BYD, Hyundai and BMW all lost ground, while MG and Mahindra kept growing. Total Market – 36,710 units, -4% MoM, +84% YoY
Tata Motors – #1 with 14,564 units, -7% MoM, 40% market share
Mahindra Electric – #2 with 8,468 units, +4% MoM, 23% market share
MG Motors – #3 with 5,877 units, +7% MoM, Windsor Indulge Edition launched and Tomahawk deliveries started
VinFast – #4 with 2,565 units, -22% MoM, biggest drop in the top 5
Kia India – #5 with 1,386 units, -3% MoM, EV9 sales have started
Maruti Suzuki – #6 with 1,188 units, +1.3% MoM
Hyundai – #7 with 753 units, -10% MoM
BYD – #8 with 735 units, -16% MoM, Denza D9 and Z9 GT entry coming
BMW – #9 with 459 units, -14% MoM
Tesla – #10 with 282 units, -6% MoM
