Drive Electric Alabama bringing EV showcase to Cullman
Published 5:56 pm Monday, September 7, 2026
Drive Electric Alabama will host an electric vehicle showcase as part of the Cullman Electric Cooperative’s annual meeting on Saturday, Sept. 12.
The showcase will feature a diverse mix of EVs on display to allow visitors to get under the hood and talk one-on-one with owners about range, charging, cost of ownership, performance and how an EV performs on a daily commute.
“For anyone considering or simply curious about electric vehicles, this EV showcase is a prime opportunity to get answers to any question from people who drive these vehicles every day,” said Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition President Michael Staley, who helped coordinate the EV showcase and drives an all-electric Chevy pickup truck. “The very best way to learn about EVs is to talk directly to EV owners.”
The EV showcase in Cullman is one of several upcoming Drive Electric Alabama events throughout the state, including events at Rickwood Caverns State Park in Blount County and another in Huntsville.
Gas prices remain nearly a dollar per gallon more expensive than a year ago, amplifying the fuel cost savings many EV owners enjoy.
EV sales hit record highs in 50 countries in the second quarter of 2026, according to Kelly Blue Book. In the United States, EV sales increased more than 14% in the second quarter after setting sales record in the third quarter of 2025.

“Drivers who choose an EV benefit from lower fuel and maintenance costs without sacrificing performance or convenience,” Staley said. “People are surprised to learn that 95% of my charging is at home and there’s no reason for anxiety on a road trip, even in Alabama, given the long range of modern EVs and many public charging options for those longer road trips.”
