COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A bicyclist was ejected off his bike and is now in the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle at approximately 2:28 p.m. Thursday.

The adult riding the E-Bike was travelling northbound on Summit St. in the bike lane. At the same time, a white 2010 Ford E-250 was travelling eastbound on E. 18th Ave. The adult driver of the Ford attempted to make a right hand turn to travel southbound on Summit St.

The driver failed to see the bicyclist traveling northbound, and struck them. The bicyclist was ejected from the bike and was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in stable condition.

After a follow-up at the hospital, the bicyclist was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The Accident Investigation Unit responded to the crash scene and started an investigation.
