Rochester Man Arrested for Stolen E-Bike in Bloomfield
On Sunday, State Police in Canandaigua arrested 29-year-old William Nelson, of Rochester, following an investigation into the theft of an electric bicycle in the town of Bloomfield.
On June 6, troopers responded to a residence in Bloomfield for a reported larceny after the victim reported that an Aventon eBike had been taken from the property. During the investigation, troopers tracked the bicycle using its GPS technology. Investigators conducted multiple area canvasses and follow-up interviews to locate the bicycle and identify the person responsible.
The investigation ultimately identified Nelson as allegedly having the stolen bicycle. On Sunday, Nelson voluntarily responded to the Canandaigua State Police Barracks and turned over the bicycle to investigators. The bicycle was recovered with damage.
Nelson was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree.
He was issued an appearance ticket and released. Nelson is scheduled to appear in East Bloomfield Town Court on September 17.
The investigation was conducted by members of the State Police in Canandaigua and Rochester.
The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
