Young e-bike riders accused of vandalism, causing thousands in damage at Surrey Hills Golf Course
Surrey Hills Golf Course says young e-bike riders have caused thousands of dollars in damage, including vandalized restrooms, broken flags and tee boxes.
OKLAHOMA CITY —
An Oklahoma City metro golf course and police are working to identify a group of young people on electric bikes who are causing damage to fairways and greens.
Staff at Surrey Hills Golf Course said the young riders have been spotted riding on the course, breaking things and vandalizing the restrooms.
“We’ve had a group of young kids riding e-bikes and electric scooters all over the course,” Alivia Peters, the marketing manager for Surrey Hills Golf Course, said.
Staff said this has been going on for months, and the golf course managers have filed reports with police after they found damage that is estimated to cost thousands of dollars.
“They’ll drive on our greens, through our fairways. They’ve vandalized our back nine restrooms,” Peters said.

Police reports said there was damage to tee boxes and flags were broken. But Peters said there was also a traffic incident.
“I know recently there was an incident where a kid ran a stop sign and ran into a truck,” Peters said.
The golf course is trying to identify who is riding the bikes, and it goes beyond physical vandalism and damage.
“We had a 78-year-old woman who was golfing and noticed the kids were riding the bikes and disrupting the pace of play for her. They cussed her out and were very vulgar towards her,” Peters said.
Police records show one report was made on July 30. A few days later, another report was filed on Aug. 2.
The most recent report details how a granite sign was knocked over on the golf course property.
So far, no bike riders have been caught.
“We have a good idea who these kids are. It’s more so just catching them in the act or getting their names,” Peters said.
