It’s been a surprisingly rough year for the Toyota Prius in the United States, with sales down by 41.5% in the first quarter of the year. It’s surprising because hybrids have been on a roll across the industry for many months now, and the current Prius is by far the best iteration of the electric hatchback. If you want to get behind the wheel of a new Prius, Toyota is currently running a lease deal on the almost unbelievably efficient LE trim, along with the plug-in hybrid variants. Here’s how much they’ll cost you.
This Month Toyota Prius Lease Deals

The Toyota Prius lease price hasn’t gotten any more expensive for May 2026. The base LE with front-wheel drive can be leased for $309 per month over 36 months, with $2,999 due at signing. This Toyota Prius leasing deal includes 10,000 miles annually; if you exceed this limit, the automaker charges $0.15 for every additional mile. As usual, the deal excludes tax, licensing, and registration costs. This deal expires on June 1, 2026.
If you have access to home charging and have a short daily commute, the Prius Plug-in Hybrid may be an even smarter choice. The SE variant can be leased for $410 per month over 36 months, with $3,160 due at signing and the same mileage limit of 10,000. There are also 12,000- and 15,000-mile options, with the longest one raising the monthly cost to $436 and increasing the initial payment to $3,186.
We advise you to check for deals in your area by adding your zip code to Toyota’s site, as location-specific Toyota Prius lease offers may differ.

One of America’s Most Efficient Vehicles
2026 Toyota PriusToyota
The latest Prius is extraordinarily efficient, which matters in times of high gas prices, especially for people who would find an EV impractical. The base LE has EPA-rated gas mileage figures of 57/56/57 city/highway/combined. If you cover around 15,000 miles per year in a mix of city and highway driving, expect annual fuel costs of around $1,050. This model has an excellent range of 644 miles on a full tank, but even the least efficient Prius with AWD still manages 49 mpg combined.
The Prius SE PHEV gets 53/51/52 mpg, but the ace up its sleeve is an all-electric range of 44 miles. In fully electric mode, this Prius has a top speed of 84 mph. The PHEV also has 220 horsepower, so it’s more powerful than the regular hybrid (194 hp).
Although the Toyota Corolla Hybrid is more affordable than the Prius, it’s not as efficient (50 mpg at best) and not nearly as powerful (138 hp). The Corolla is also an older design than the Prius and looks far more premium. There’s another Toyota hybrid that could be stealing sales from the Prius, though.

Does The Prius Have a Camry Problem?
2026 Toyota CamryJoe Santos
The dip in Prius sales in 2026 is curious for a car that’s such an improvement over its predecessor, and especially at a time when one of the pioneers of the hybrid movement should be thriving. One plausible theory is that many potential Prius buyers have been won over by a Camry instead; this is Toyota’s top-selling model of 2026 so far. The Camry is larger, more practical, still super efficient, and more refined, yet doesn’t cost more, with exactly the same base lease price as the Prius this month. For anyone looking for more style and some hatchback practicality, the Prius is a better choice. For the rest, it’s not hard to see why the latest Camry could be a better overall buy.
