Tesla has hit a new milestone in its efforts to develop and refine its driverless vehicle technology, but it will be at least several months before a long-promised upgrade is available.

Over the weekend, the electric-vehicle maker said its customers had driven more than 10 billion miles combined with vehicles equipped with its Full Self-Driving (supervised) advanced driver-assistance system. That includes about 3.76 billion miles driven on city roads, according to Tesla TSLA.
