AUBURN — An e-bicyclist was hospitalized on Monday after riding into the back of a van on Hotel Road.
Police said 36-year-old Stephen Manchester of Mechanic Falls was likely distracted when he slammed into the back of the van at about 3:30 p.m.
Manchester was taken to a Lewiston hospital with injuries that were described as serious but not life-threatening.
Police said Manchester had been heading north on Hotel Road when he rode into the back of Dodge Ram 2500 driven by 55-year-old Michael Barrett of Auburn.
Barrett was stopped at the time of the crash, police said, and preparing to make a left turn.
Police shut down a section of Hotel Road for about 20 minutes as rescue crews attended to Manchester and an investigation got underway.
That investigation was ongoing Monday night.
