Upscale manufacturers are focused on one thing: luxury – which Lexus knows all too well.

While other manufacturers continue to chase each other to roll out new and exciting additions to their brand, Lexus sticks to what they know best: simple luxury that is simultaneously dependable and comfortable.

This week in Grasso’s Garage is the 2026 Lexus NX450h, otherwise known in the business as the upscale RAV4.

With endless continued sales in the Toyota market, the RAV4 is by no means a secret, proving its continued success for both new and used car sales. Lexus shows its smarts, saying, let’s not ruin a good thing. They expand it and watch consumers who want the space and reliability of the RAV4, radiate into a luxury upscale version – an upscale twist to a living legend.

Boasting 37 miles of pure electric power, the NX450h+ certainly succeeds for consumers looking to float around town. Its excellent shape and contours deliver nicely for onlookers while serving the owner’s space and comfortability requirements.

Our plug-in hybrid 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine produced 304 combined horsepower and came with an all-wheel drive powertrain. Wrapped in Grecian Water, a true royal blue, the NX450h+ was a dream to drive. It had plenty of pep for a hybrid and much better pickup than the Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid, albeit noisier. Our tester came with a host of upgrades including a Mark Levinson premium audio system, panorama glass roof, upgraded technology features and technology package, which added about $3,500 or so.

The NX was clearly at a higher price point than the Acura RDX – the upscale Honda CR-V – by about $6K, but that’s because it is a gasoline-only vehicle and not a hybrid. The NX recommends premium fuel usage as well, which is typical for the brand.

Lexus consumers have a long history of loving their vehicles. Once consumers own a Lexus, they either never give it up or continue to upgrade within the brand. I anticipate the 2026 Lexus NX450h to be around for a long, long time.
