A Chinese car manufacturer expected to make shockwaves in Europe has launched a new electric vehicle that can be charged within just five minutes. DENZA, the premium marque behind the popular EV brand BYD, claims its charging tech can top up the batteries in its new Z9GT in just a matter of minutes.
FLASH Charging capabilities deliver up to 1,500kW of power through a single connector, allowing refill times that rival conventional petrol and diesel fuel stops. It is understood that the car can be topped up from 10% to 70% of its battery capacity in just five minutes, with cars reaching 97% in just nine minutes.
DENZA boasts its charging capabilities are built for all eventualities and weather conditions, even the extreme cold, where seeds are usually reduced. Even in -30°C, DENZA’s new model can be charged from 20% to 97% in only 12 minutes.
From the outside, the new DENZA Z9GT looks the part with an elegant shooting-brake body style. Inside, the vehicle is fitted with a range of premium features, including fine-grade leather and light-smoked wood.
The front seats are equipped with a 10-point massage and ventilation system, while the model is also packed with technology, including a 17.3-inch central display screen.
The new DENZA also benefits from a stunning 50-inch augmented-reality head-up display, along with the option of screens in the doors that show images from the digital side mirrors to eliminate blind spots.
Stella Li, BYD executive vice p, said: “The Z9GT represents the true spirit of DENZA — where advanced technology, beautiful design and emotional driving come together. That makes it the perfect model to lead the brand as we extend its reach beyond China, starting with Europe.”
The model will hit the market with two powertrains: a fully electric and a Super Hybrid DM model available to buyers. The EV model can hit 0-62mph in just 2.7 seconds, with an impressive top speed of 167mph.
Range is also not an issue, with WLTP estimates suggesting the all-electric models can handle 372 miles.
