GAC Philippines unveiled a new hybrid SUV and showcased a broader range of electrified vehicles at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), as the Chinese automaker steps up its push in the local new energy vehicle (NEV) market.

The company officially launched the GS8 hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and previewed additional models, including the E8 HEV and the 2026 Emzoom, while also announcing pricing for the GN8 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Other vehicles on display included the Aion V and Hyptec HT electric SUVs.

“This MIAS 2026, we are thrilled to showcase GAC’s most advanced mobility solutions on the country’s biggest automotive stage for the Filipino people,” said Steven Wang, senior vice president of GAC International.

“With the spectacular debut of the GS8 HEV and GN8 PHEV, we invite everyone to experience the cutting-edge difference firsthand, embodying our commitment to electrified performance and sustainable luxury.”

The GS8 HEV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid engine paired with a Toyota-based hybrid system, producing up to 140 kW and 320 Nm of torque.

It comes with an all-wheel-drive system, multiple driving modes, and an electronic continuously variable transmission.

Inside, the SUV features a 14.6-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a suite of driver-assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping functions.

GAC also previewed the E8 HEV, a seven-seater MPV with a claimed driving range of up to 1,200 kilometers, targeting families seeking hybrid options.

Meanwhile, the GN8 PHEV offers over 1,000 kilometers of combined range and more than 100 kilometers of pure electric driving, positioning it in the premium MPV segment.

The company’s battery electric vehicle lineup was represented by the Hyptec HT, a luxury SUV with over 600 kilometers of range, and the Aion V, a mid-size electric SUV designed for everyday use.

GAC said it is offering introductory prices for select models until May 31, alongside limited-time discounts during the MIAS event.
