An initial investigation determined that the Tesla was making a left turn from southbound Connecticut Avenue onto Manor Road when Leone, driving a 2015 BMW S1000 motorcycle north on Connecticut Avenue, struck it.

Following the crash, police temporarily closed Connecticut Avenue to investigate. The intersection is located about a mile south of Interstate 495.
As detectives continue to work to learn what led up to the deadly crash, officials urge anyone with information to contact the Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
