Ranking Japanese mainstream car brands in 2026 by car enthuasist.

Priorities that are strongly considered in this list;

1. Reliability/Quality. Toyota and mostly in japan built Mazda is outstanding on this. Some brands like Nissan, Mitsubishi and Honda have slipped in reliability quite badly since recent years. Subaru has stepped their game and famous head gaskets isn't problem anymore.

2. Bang for buck. Suzuki is doing better with cheap maintenance prices and Nissan too. Frenchy Mitsubishi not so much, so that's why it's ranked lower than similar Nissan.

3. Innovation/Driving dynamics/Design. They all are somewhere good at this, best Mazda and Toyota.
