Huntsville Police test new e-bikes to boost patrol speed, cover more ground, and enhance community engagement in crowded areas and downtown spaces.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Huntsville Police Department is testing new electric bikes for its Bike Unit.

The department is evaluating how e-bikes can help officers move faster while remaining highly visible and connected to the community.

Officers hope the bikes will allow quicker access in crowded areas, easier coverage of trails and downtown spaces, and a more approachable way to engage with residents.

“Think quicker access in crowded areas, easier coverage of trails and downtown spaces and a more approachable way to engage with our residents,” said the Huntsville Police Department.
