Russell Tovey’s Art Guide to Hong Kong
Actor, art collector, and podcaster Russell Tovey takes the wheel, and takes us on a tour of Hong Kong’s art scene during Art Basel Hong Kong 2026. With a few hours to spare before the art fair doors open, we visit a gallery, an institution, and a local food joint, venturing through the roads of the vibrant city and its cultural scene.
We start our journey on-site at Art Basel Hong Kong, where BMW’s Lounge features the 6th BMW Art Car by Robert Rauschenberg. Then we’re off to White Cube, one of numerous locations worldwide, where they are featuring the Ghanaian artist El Anatsui. Another quick drive in the BMW iX takes us to Para Site, one of the longest running independent art institutions in Hong Kong, celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. And finally, before heading back to the fair, a pit stop and a quick bite in Tai Hang. The charming pocket of Hong Kong is the perfect balance of old architecture, narrow streets, new cafes, and a burgeoning art and design community.
