Leapmotor has launched a plug-in hybrid range-extender version of its B10 family SUV for the same price as its all-electric model.
The Leapmotor B10 Hybrid EV is the second plug-in range extender in the Chinese newcomer’s line-up and brings a hybrid alternative to the all-electric B10.
Like the larger C10 REEV, the B10 hybrid’s 1.5-litre petrol motor isn’t connected to the wheels. Instead, it works as a range-extending generator to keep the 18.8kWh battery topped up.
That battery provides energy to a 214bhp rear-mounted electric motor, which delivers 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 106mph.
Leamotor says that the B10 Hybrid will deliver up to 50 miles of EV-only driving before the petrol engine needs to recharge the battery. It can also rapid charge at up to 50kW, allowing a 30-80% top up in 20 minutes.
With the petrol generator’s help, the B10 Hybrid has an official combined range of 559miles and CO2 emissions of just 21g/km.
Like the EV version of the B10, there is just one trim level, priced at £31,495, which is identical to the battery-only model. The only paid-for option is metallic paint, at £575.
Standard features shared with the BEV version include 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, electrically powered, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 12-speaker premium hi-fi, a 14.6-inch D central touchscreen and 260-degree parking camera. Wireless Android and Apple mirroring is also standard, along with wireless phone charging and 64-colour ambient lighting.
Order books for the Nissan Qashqai E-Power rival will open in the summer, with the first customer deliveries expected shortly after.
Along with the B10 Hybrid, Stellantis-backed Leapmotor plans to bring two more models to the UK by the end of 2027. The B05 is a C-segment hatchback set to arrive later this year and take on the Kia EV4 and VW ID.3. After that, we’ll get the B03X, a compact crossover expected to rival the Renault 4, Ford Puma Gen-E and Kia EV2.
