This was the first year the Hemi 331 CID V8 was installed, which made 300 horsepower; which began Chrysler's ventures into substantially impressive engineering feats. In 1957, the 392 CID Hemi V8 was already churning out 390 horsepower.

This was the first year of the Chrysler "letter series" cars that spanned between 1955-1965. The '56 "letter series" Chrysler's was where 355 horsepower got bored out of the V8 and it was the first American car to breach 350+ horsepower and the '56 was one of the most powerful American cars produced at the time. The 1955 was also the first Chrysler product designed by Virgil Exner, who's styling choices for Chrysler came to be known as the "Forward Look".

The biggest engine fitted in the '57 Chevy for example was a 283 horsepower 283 CID V8. By 1958, Chrysler 300Ds were tested and given a 156 mph top speed figure . The biggest downside to the Chrysler's were pricing and production.

The '55 C-300 only produced 1,700 models and by '59, a "letter series" Chrysler was down to 647. Thus, these are exceptionally unique and rare 70 years later, but I do feel like in some cases Chrysler's feats and engineering accomplishments have gotten overlooked in the last several decades, but I personally favor 50s Chrysler products
