The SK Signet 400 kW All-in-One DC fast charger, as the name suggests, is an all-in-one solution with power modules integrated directly into the charging station. This eliminates the need for an external switchgear cabinet alongside the charging station, though the station itself is somewhat larger as a result.

However, size is one area where SK Signet claims to have made significant improvements. The new model offers a 54% reduction in footprint compared to the previous model with the same charging capacity, while its energy efficiency is said to reach 96.5%. According to the company, these improvements in energy and space efficiency are enabled ‘through high-density silicon carbide (SiC)-based power modules and a high-efficiency power design.’ The 54% space saving, however, is achieved through a comparative calculation: SK Signet measures the area of two units of its existing ‘V2 200 kW All-in-One’ model against one new 400 kW unit.

The all-in-one design—well-known in Europe through Alpitronic’s Hypercharger series—simplifies installation and reduces construction costs for operators compared to decentralised systems. SK Signet aims to address the growing demand from charge point operators for solutions that deliver maximum power with minimal space requirements and low installation complexity.

The 400 kW charging segment is gaining traction as more 800-volt vehicles are able to utilise this power level. SK Signet also states that ‘the system can deliver stable 150–250kW charging to multiple vehicles while supporting full 400kW capacity for high-voltage EV platforms.’ The system can be configured in different variants, ranging from a single cable for a guaranteed 400 kW output to setups with up to four cables.

The announcement further states that the South Korean company wants to ‘strengthen its position in the United States across hydrogen energy, EV batteries, energy storage systems, semiconductors, and advanced materials.’

However, the future growth rate of the US market remains uncertain—recent policies under the Trump administration have led to declining electric vehicle sales in the United States, and several automakers have already cancelled electric vehicle projects for North America. In addition to the version for North America (with CCS1 and NACS) introduced now, the 400 kW charger is expected to be available in Europe by the end of the year, with long-term plans to supply global markets.

“The new 400kW All-In-One model is a breakthrough that simultaneously innovates power efficiency, density, and reliability,” said Hyungki Cho, CEO of SK Signet. “As high-power demand accelerates across the US, SK Signet will spearhead the evolution of ultra-fast charging networks by utilising our unrivalled leadership in technology.”
