China is planning to make China Compulsory Certification (CCC) mandatory for chargers used in electric motorcycles and mopeds, aiming to improve safety and standardisation in the fast-growing electric two-wheeler market.

The new regulation, being developed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) along with industry bodies, will set strict safety and performance requirements covering electrical protection, thermal safety, and charging compatibility.

Once implemented, all chargers—both locally manufactured and imported—will be required to meet the CCC standard to be sold in the Chinese market.

This move is part of China’s broader effort to tighten regulations across the EV ecosystem, ensuring higher product quality, improved safety, and better reliability for consumers. The standard is currently under development and is expected to be rolled out after completion and regulatory approval.
