As we celebrate the new “affordable” pricing, let’s pour one out for the early adopters. If you bought a LiveWire One back in 2023 when they were asking for $27,500, I am so sorry. Your bike’s resale value just did a disappearing act that would make Houdini jealous. Usually, you expect a bike to lose some value – we all know the “drive it off the lot” rule. But a 41% price cut on a new model means your used bike is now worth about as much as a used toothbrush.
At the end of the day, I’m always happy to see electric bikes become more affordable for everyone. We want more people on two wheels, but watching a brand pivot this hard makes me wonder if they’re riding the bike or if the bike is riding them. Sure, it’s a great time to buy – but a really bad time to sell. Stay positive, and maybe wait another week before buying – who knows, you might get a free toaster next!
