Porsche Cayenne Electric first drive: 1,156HP SUV?!
The Porsche Cayenne changed everything when it first arrived back in 2002, and now it’s doing it all over again, because it’s gone fully electric.
Once a controversial move for Porsche, the Cayenne has become one of the brand’s biggest success stories, with more than 1.5 million sold worldwide. This all-new version takes that formula and pushes it into the electric era, combining sports car performance with SUV practicality in a way few rivals can match.
In this first drive, we take a closer look at the entry-level Cayenne Electric, exploring its design, interior tech, practicality and what it’s like to drive. With a large battery offering up to around 399 miles of range and ultra-fast charging capability, it promises to be as usable as it is impressive. But of course, that’s only part of the story.
Because further up the range sits the Cayenne Turbo, and with an astonishing 1,156hp, it pushes performance into supercar territory, despite weighing well over two and a half tonnes. It’s a reminder of just how far electric SUVs have come.
