BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne community members are being invited to take part in an upcoming meeting aimed at strengthening communication between residents and law enforcement while addressing growing concerns surrounding e bike safety.

The Melbourne Police Community Relations Council will host its next MPCRC meeting on Thursday, April 9, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Joseph Pellicano Law Enforcement Center, located at 250 West NASA Boulevard.

The meeting is open to the public and encourages residents to engage directly with local leaders and law enforcement officials.

A key focus of the evening will be a featured presentation on e bikes, highlighting safety practices, current laws, and the shared responsibility between riders, motorists, and the broader community.

As e bike usage continues to rise, officials say the discussion is intended to promote awareness and reduce potential risks on local roadways.

In addition to the presentation, attendees will receive a first quarter update and have the opportunity to participate in a community conversation, offering feedback and discussing concerns directly with leadership.

The meeting will include participation from Melbourne Police Department leadership, including Police Chief David Gillespie and Community Relations Council President James Minus, who are expected to address attendees and provide updates.

Organizers say the goal of the MPCRC meetings is to build stronger relationships between police and the community through transparency, education, and open dialogue.

Residents unable to attend the April meeting will have another opportunity to participate when the next session is scheduled for May 14.

Community members are encouraged to attend, learn, and take part in shaping safer streets and a more connected Melbourne.
