EWA BEACH, Hawaii (Island News) – The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responded to a two-alarm building fire in Ewa Beach Sunday morning.

The fire was reported on Ewa Beach Road at approximately 10:10 a.m.,, with HFD crews arriving on the scene by 10:19 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found a light black smoke and flames coming from the carport of a small two-story residential structure.

It was reported that an electric bike and an electric vehicle were in the carport as the flames grew to the exterior of the second floor. The Incident Commander upgraded the fire to a two-alarm response and requested additional resources, including a Hazardous Materials Unit.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive attack and applied water to the fire at 10:23 a.m. The fire was deemed under control at 10:29 and fully extinguished at 11:45 a.m.

It was confirmed that no one was inside of the home and that they all safely evacuated on their own and didn’t require any medical attention.

An investigator with HFD has been requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire, as well as to provide damage estimates.
